RIP Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart
#1
Made his first start of the season last night against Oakland (no-decision). Was killed on his way home from the ballpark by a hit-and-run driver who ran a red light.

The original LA Times link has been updated as follows: The driver of the minivan has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and felony DUI. He has a prior DUI conviction and his driver's license was under suspension.

Two other people from that car also died (Adenhart was a passenger) and the fourth is in critical condition.

All the obits I've seen say he's survived only by his parents, with no reference to any siblings.

Tonight's A's-Angels game at Anaheim has been postponed, of course.

UNREAL..Just seen the kid throw a gem last night and here he is dead today. Makes you have an outlook on life when we all complain about the little things..Such a bright future ahead of him before some drunk took Nick and 2 others..God Bless his family/friends/teammates!
#12
Prayers to his family
#13
Prayers goes out to his family and teammates. Not only his family but the other 2 that was killed as well. MLB will miss this rising star greatly. It's sad that it takes something like this to happen before we realize how fast we can leave this place.
#14
Go rest high on that mountain.

Its so strange..me and Playboy was talking while he was pitching, talking about how this kid was going to be the real deal, how the bottom would drop out of his deuce, how he had such a bright future.....and I woke up the next morning and he was dead..tragic..may God be with his family..

Thats just sick. A guy works his whole life to reach the ultimate level and this happens.

Alcohol should have its limits in the United States IMO
