Boyd Co. lost the big girls and their PG, but have plenty left to compete for title. Rowan's returnees plus their new additions put them right there along with Raceland too, who added a quality big girl to go with good guards. East is always in the hunt and Lewis Co. is a sleeper. Ashland won't be able to sneak up on people like they did last year, making their way to the championship. The large majority of their team were 8th , 9th and 10th graders so a years experience should really help. Should be a great year in the 16th.

Pretty good analysis of the 16th region contenders this year

Don't forget Raceland with the addidtion of Gee along with Lacks and Epling they should make some noise.

It is Ashland's to lose, they have so much coming back and the experience they gained will keep them focused all year. Boyd will be tough of course, Pete is an excellent coach and has some nice talent there and a dark horse that could be a factor is Lewis, I don't think they get enough credit. I don't think Raceland is going to be a factor for the 16th Region title, they will compete for the ALL "A" crown but I wouldn't just hand that to them either.
