You know, it sounds like he had a really nasty fall. Broke some facial bones around his right eye.

I'm sure it was bad and very painful. He's going to be back in the saddle this coming week so it must not have been debilitating.

Reid seems to be accident prone. I suspect alcohol was involved, or maybe he was just late on a payment or two.
