Boxing died 5-2-14 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Cause of death: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao and their 12 Round snooze fest.
Of course Vegas and the fighters made their millions.... But there is NO WAY the people will ever pay $99.95 for a boxing PPV again. Keep boxing on cable/network television.
The build up was "The Fight of the Century" but it looked more like a prom. Between all the hugging and dancing around and lack of actual boxing, this multi-million dollar event, IMO, is the last nail in the Boxing Coffin.

Boxing will always be a money maker. It has been around since the beginning.
Personally, I don't like boxing. Never have. Even the "good" fights to me are boring.
However, things like MMA are just a phase IMO that's already losing its steam. Boxing will be there forever. Don't ask me why, but it will.
