It's often easy to let unpaid parking tickets add up. What's one or two - or four? But for people with four or more, it can mean finding their car towed.
The Cincinnati Police Department is in the middle of a citywide sweep for people with four or more unpaid parking tickets. They went through District 1 on Monday, towing 79 cars and getting another 29 people to pay their outstanding fines, said Lt. Mark Briede, Cincinnati police public information officer.
They'll be doing the other districts this week.
"The message is, if you know you have these tickets, go ahead and take care of them," Briede said.
The department uses license plate readers attached to police cruisers to check for repeat offenders. Officers don't randomly drive through the district, but instead target specific locations where these vehicles might be.
