When we were discussing in another thread the best movies of the year you could have taken my advise and looked into it Wink

From "Top 10 Movies of 2009"

EKUAlum05 Wrote:As for me:
1. The Hurt Locker- Watch this movie.

2. Zombieland- Biggest surprise of the year to me..funny and entertaining. Woody Harrelson is the man.

3. The Blind Side- Best story line of the year and Sandra Bullock was great

4. Avatar- Stunning visual..plot line was not the best though

5. Paranormal Activity- Earned major bonus points for creativity

6. Invictus- Watched the bootleg... drags a bit... but Eastwood, Damon, Freeman are money.

7. The Princess and the Frog- Go ahead and laugh but the classic genre Disney Movies are always solid

8. Inglourious Basterds- Not as good as the hype...but still pretty solid.

9. Up- The dog cracked me up.

10. The Hangover- Funny..but not as revolutionary as people say

In a nutshell:

It is a fairly low budget movie set in Iraq that follows a bomb deployment squad. Mark Boal wrote the movie after he worked in the Middle East as a reporter. The resounding theme of the movie is "war is a drug" and the lead actor played by Best Actor Nominee Jeremy Renner is a borderline sociopath who is a disarming expert. The movies plot is fairly simple, but it is without a doubt one of the best movies I have ever seen for building suspense.

I watched the first time it was in theatres, but I have a feeling it will be re-released. I strongly advise watching it at the theatre so you get the full effect of the suspense.

Jeremy Renner has worked REALLY hard to get to that nomination. He has been in the business for a pretty good while to JUST NOW get a good solid movie. SWAT was pretty good but THIS is the kind of role he needs to have more of.

I wanted Avatar to win but I figured Hurt Locker would.

Most verterans who have been in Iraq say the movie is blown way out of proportion.

Avatar is stunning visually, but lacking in the storyline department.

I aint saying it is Schindler's List but explain how it's story is lacking? I think it is a lot like Dances With Wolves meets Star Wars.

Went on a little too long, some boring parts, and quite predictable.
