NEWPORT 3, SILVER GROVE 0 â Freshman right-hander Brandon Kilburn hurled four scoreless innings and belted his first career home run to lead the Wildcats.
Kilburn fanned seven, and his solo homer to left center field in the second inning gave Newport an early 1-0 lead.
Sophomore shortstop Charlie Mullins doubled in the Wildcatsâ second run in the fourth inning, and after stealing third he scored on a sacrifice fly by senior left fielder Paul Hoeh.
