UEFA EURO 2016 QUALIFIERS
10/15/2014

Greece vs Northern Ireland

Home - Greece
Last away matches - D-L-D-L-D-D

On the last round of EC-qualifiers Greece drew 1:1 with Finland on the road. So far the Greeks have collected only one point. During the first match they surprisingly lost at home to Romania on the 7th of September. Against Finland, Greece dominated the first half of the game and opened the score in the 24th minute when Karelis scored Greeks first goal in these Qualifiers. The second half looked differently and it were the hosts who appeared to be stronger and displayed bigger will to score the goal. This was quickly awarded with an equalizer in the 55th minute. Nothing interesting happened then and the game ended in a 1:1 draw. The Greeks do not have any new injuries that happened during the match against Finland

Away - Northern Ireland
Last away matches - W-L-L-D-L-D

Following the win over Faroe Island, Northern Ireland top Group F with the full set of six points. During that game the Irish goalkeeper, Roy Caroll, did not have much to do. Yet, he remained vivid till the very end of the game when he saved a penalty denying the visitors to score. The goals for Nothern Ireland were scored by Gareth McAuley and Kyle Lafferty – both goals were scored in the first half. For the Northern Irelands it is the best start of the EC-qualifiers since 1968 when they also managed back-to-back victories. The Irish are not afraid of going to Greece. Their manager Micheal O’Neill said: “Belief is developing in the squad all the time. We don’t envisage an easy game at all, but what we will have is a real go”. So expect them to be a tough opponent.
