Mayfield 24 Graves County 14
#3
Mayfield fans had very tough start of the season falling like they did to McCracken County then more torture falling behind 14-0 last night to cross town Graves County. Finally the Cards show signs of life taking their first lead of the season (SEASON NOT GAME) in the 3rd quarter and from there it looked like the Cards of old as they made halftime adjustments and dominated the second half. Would have been interesting to have gotten the blood pressure from every Cards fan early, it would have been stroke levels for some. This is a young Cards unit, they lost 18 of 22 starters from a year ago and only have 6 seniors so the growing pains will be with us for awhile but man did that second half bring some much needed pain relief for this youthful bunch of Cards. It was the perfect example of Mayfield doing what they do best, that being adjusting . The coaches at Mayfield deserve the game ball and for at least one night all was right in the universe. This team is going to continue to have growing pains but thank God for such a great coaching staff. Not the vintage Cards of normal yet but the Cards will continue to improve and once they get it figured out look out. They are so young but have the 2 things needed to find the greatness that is typical of Mayfield in coaching and talent as last night showed.
