Clay County vs Corbin
#31
Should be a good crowd out Monday night, but not at full capacity. Corbin are a well coached team and will give a great effort, but in the end Clay is on top as they always have been. Clay by 10 or better.

General Jackson Wrote:The showdown was shutdown by Tony P. and his junk diamond and one on Fox. The other 4 had off nights and you have Corbin in the finals. I'ts gonna be a boring slow down crappy final. You are probably right Gamecast and believe it or not, I would usually rather Clay win this one but no way this year. If Allen gets in foul trouble early and Corbin can get an early lead to control tempo, I could see them pulling this one out. I can't believe I'm saying this but Go Hounds!

Wasn't just a diamond and one General. It was a Petrowski diamond and one with 5 guys sitting down seeing ball and seeing man the whole game and double teaming Fox when he had the ball. Clays got the advantage because they have am actual post player who can neutralize all that. I think that if this game stays in the 50's Corbin has a shot. But I predict there is no way that will happen. Clay 10+.

I don't think there is any debate that Clay County is the more talented of the two teams. It's not a huge margin like most games but nevertheless, the Tigers have the talent advantage. They also have a significant size advantage in this game. That being said, if Corbin can get this into an up and down transition game, it could really bode well for the Hounds. Clay is a good transition team as well but for the extent of the whole game, I would think that would benefit Corbin.

What I liked about Clay is that they were patient with the ball, even though at sometimes they showed a few sloppy tendencies. What I liked about Corbin is their hustle, conditioning, timing and defense. Everyone may be blown away by the guards getting into the lane and hitting the fancy layups but I love the way they pressure the ball and play the passing lanes. I lost count of how many times Whitley, Williamsburg, Jackson, and Bell turned the ball over.

Either way, I think this will be a heck of a game decided by less than 10 points. 10 sounds like a good margin but once you factor late game free throws, it's not too much. I think the winner of this game will be who can dictate the tempo. Clay is very well coached but I too think Pietrowski has blossomed into one of Kentucky's best coaches. I won't make a prediction other than it will be a good one and the winner will have earned it.

BrokenArrow Wrote:Dont be hating General that junk defense sent u all home. When u r a one man show that's what happens. Clay has 6 horses capable of dropping 20 any night. U might as well root for Corbin because its back to ur rightful place of this region and being the bottom feeders u are use to being. The best thing to ever come out of Jackson county is 421 south bound into Greatness.
Hard to believe anyone would not cheer for Clay County with fans like you Arrow. What a great guy. Go Hounds!

Harold if u really think Corbin can run with Clay u have lost ur mind. If this game reaches the 70's Corbin Dont have a shot. Only way Corbin plays close is in a low scoring slow down game. Clay is averaging nearly 80 pts per game over the last 2 months. Jackson county was the only team able to run with clay. Clay just beat a team u barely beat at home by 21. And played the whole 2nd half with half effort. Clay is bigger, longer, more athletic and way more talented. Corbin has to play slow ball in order to compete.:ChairHit:

Yeah.Yeah.Yeah. And if they double Chip, Trey will make em pay. No way they can keep Allen off the boards. Clay will force tempo. Blah Blah blah. Makes me sick. We all know what will probably happen and you are absolutely correct Gamecast as usual, but like I said ...... GO HOUNDS!!!!:HitWall:

How can anyone say there is no possible Corbin can run with Clay, when Corbin has beaten Jackson?

Shouldn't that mean its possible?

Well all know Corbin is dangerous when playing slow. Jackson would have welcomed it with open arms. Tony P. will try and slow this down but Clay will get to the rim or foul out trying. Refs can let Corbin play tough but they cannot call charges every trip down on Clay either. Maybe it will be close Gut but it's gonna make me sick when Corbin is slowing everything down and boring everyone. Would have loved to seen Fox and McDaniel go four quarters of breakneck pace one more time. Good luck to either team at Rupp. Represent the 13th!

The only way Corbin wins this game..... Is if they do what they do best....pay off the officials and CHEAT!!!
#57
LOVE this thread. It reminds me of Harlan/Bell Counties in football!! LOL

Corbin CAN run with Clay, IMO. Normally, in years past, it was the team playing Corbin that wanted the tempo down. Not this year.

Anyway, in the end, I don't think it will be enough.

Clay County 74
Corbin 68

Good luck to both teams; great accomplishments!!!

Clay should and most than likely will win this one......But keep in mind corbin only lost in Clay by 7 with the best coach in the region if Clay came out flat things could get interesting.

Alot of poeple are saying this is a different Corbin team but in reallity this is a different CC team. This is the team everyone was talking about of last fall. They have just now realized it for themselves. I personally dont think anyone could come out flat in a game like this. Nervous maybe but not flat. With that being said I truly believe CC wins this one in the same fashion as their first two regional games. The CC boys ARE ready.
