Rank the "Sweet 16"

Holmes/UKfan Wrote:Still alot of holmes haters. We aren't playing well and still beat one of the only 2 teams to beat us but keep on. Having any list that doesn't have Holmes and Eastern as the top two (doesn't matter which order) is going to be proven wrong early

Thats just an opinion. One could look at the fact that SV has never lost with a healthy Justice.

One could also say that SV has only beaten one ranked in state team this season. They will have to double that total to get to Sat.

Hey if Elliot can do it,..... I believe that Valley can!!!!!

One could also say that when Elisha wasn't hurt, Valley is undefeated.

Don't change the competition factor in the least.

Actually it does, if Elisha hadn't gotten hurt, Valley could have played much tougher competition overall than Mason with the Florida tourn.

I like this one as well. Seven of the top 10 are in the lower bracket, increasing the odds for Eastern, Corbin, and W Jessamine, in the upper bracket and to me the weaker bracket, luck of the draw. GO WILDCATS!

But the one ranked team that Valley beat was ranked number 1 in the state at the time, How many other teams can say that? I still think it means more to be ranked 5th-7th and beating the number 1 team than to be ranked 1 or 2 and beating teams ranked 7th-10. But that is just me.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Elliott then everybody else.
#49
I'm not real sure but I believe Shelby Valley beat Elliot county on a neutral site. Elliot's season might look more impressive but it's hard to discredit a head to head match up such as this.
#50
I see what your saying but that was then this is now.

At least Lexington is closer to Sandy Hook than Richmond is.

True.

If you take a look at the bracket set up, the top ranked teams are all drawed on one side.. kind of bad in my opinion.
fair is fair though.

In todays Lexington Herald Leader's Cantrell's rating the Sweet Sixteen, it is not EC ranked #1, but Shelby Valley #1, with EC #5, so strength of schedule must be more equal than a lot of people are saying on BGR. BGR did not even rank SV in the top 20 for half a season, hard to really understand when they were on a lot of other polls.

Actually, that's not true. i went back and checked, and SV was ranked in the BGR preseason poll. They stayed in the rankings throughout December, until Justice got hurt and they lost 4 out of the first 6 games after the injury.

They did briefly fall out of the state BGR rankings for two weeks at the beginning of January. At the time, their not being ranked was entirely justified in my opinion. They stood at an unimpressive 7-4 after returning from Florida, then struggled to beat some lesser teams for a couple weeks after that. It was apparent to me, as well as many others, that if Justice did not return to full health, then SV was not a top 20 caliber team in the state.

However, once he regained his health and Valley started winning the way they were before the injury, they re-entered the BGR poll in mid-January and have been climbing higher ever since. I think their overall treatment by the BGR poll has been very fair.
