Very interesting. I am not going to name names but I am amazed at the amount of cheating that is apparently going on at some schools. Anybody who is familiar with the state of public schools in eastern Kentucky will know what I mean if they study the list of scores.

I am amazed that you have this much inside information to cheating school systems.

I never claimed to have any inside information - only a strong suspicion that cheating is going on at several schools. As long as Kentucky rewards school districts financially for improving their test scores, there will be cheating. Tests should be used to identify weaknesses in schools and not for political purposes.

BTW, thanks for trying to clarify the meaning of my previous post but I prefer to make my points with my own words. If anybody has any questions understanding those words, then I am always glad to answer questions or rephrase my arguments.

4 Beechwood High School 161.2
9 Larry A. Ryle High School 149.7
15 Highlands High School 141.5
20 Campbell County High School 137.4

Beechwood and HHS are no surprise at all with there small class sizes, but to see that both Ryle and Campbell County have made such tremendous improvements for the numbers that those school have is a major accomplishment!

These test are gone by the way last year was the last year for them. Until the students are held accountable these scores mean very little

Wow, I'm surprised that East Ridge is in the top 50. Good job guys. And to all other Pike Co schools that did well, compared to the past.

Good job Pikeville as well. Aren't they usually top 10 though every year?

It took me until now to realize that NCC is the school I hear so much about.

Sad stuff to hear about Newport High.

Catholic or private schools do not take the state test. They are not bound by the political aspects of education

I think Average ACT test scores last year for all of Northern Kentucky Catholic scores was around 24

18th is okay. However, I expect top 10. Hopefully the ACT scores are improved upon this year.

A couple of observations....

Knox County schools (Knox Central and Lynn Camp) are still struggling badly.
Laurel County Schools (North and South Laurel) arent doing well at all.
Whitley County Schools has really stepped up there game. This use to be one othe worst districts in the state back in the day. Now all you see in the paper is how well we are doing and for a school with 1300 kids, 51st is not bad at all when schools with only a 100 kids are doing so poorly.
Corbin is ranked high as always, great academic school.
Williamsburg is dropping more and more. Once one of the best scoring schools in all of KY, they cant even score as high as Whitley.

Unless third parties administer a test the results are never valid

These tests don't prove anything, and i'm not saying that because my alma mater is occupying a position in the 200's (Perry County Central). It is because the kids that are administered these tests do not care, they know the test in no way, shape or form effects their grades in their classes and has no real effect on them whatsoever. Every year I had to take the standardized tests I remember kids going through and just marking random answers and then going to sleep for the remainder of the allotted test taking period. There's not much you can do to stop that (at least I don't think), and until someone figures out a way to get 14-18 year old's to care about a test that does them no harm, some schools will constantly have bad scores and be punished by the state, sometimes fairly, sometimes unfairly.

#190 - WOW!!!!

Like I have said for years. Governor's Cup IS A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT, for a "specific" or "select" group of kids. It has NOTHING to do with a school as a whole. Only two schools in the 15th lower.

The best schools figure out how to make their students care about the tests. That's why they're always at the top. And it's always the same schools at the top.
