Default Ashland 51 - Lawrence County 20
Last night at Putnam Stadium in Ashland the hometown Tomcats hosted Lawrence County to kick off the 2012 football season.
Ashland, who lost a ton of talent wasted no time in letting the quiet crowd know that they were not lacking in talent as they sprinted to a 44-7 first half lead. Two defensive touchdowns by Cade O’bryan, on back to back possessions was the high light for the defense and a long pass play from new quarterback Aaron Elam to Logan Salow was the big play for the Tomacat offense.
Freshman Quinton Baker would end his huge night with three touchdowns and three, two point conversions.
Baker opened the scoring up with a 16-yard run, then he converted a two-point run.
The next score in the 30-point opening quarter outbreak for the home team came from Logan Salow. Salow scored on a 56 pass from Aaron Elam. The two point run failed leaving the score, 14-0.
Cade O'Bryan, scored twice for the Tomacat defense on runs of 34 and 69 yards. Elam scored two convert a two point play after the first quarter, while Baker converted a two point play after the second score.
Lawrence County was able to get on board when Ricky Goble scored from 9-yards out. Blake Prince connected on the point after to make the score,30-7.
In the second quarter Ashland was able to score twice. The first one coming from Baker on a three yard run, with the second one coming from Elam on a 30-yard run. The point after was good both times by Dylan Patrick making the half time score 44-7.
Ashland used a ton of players in the second half, which kept the scoring way down.
In total I had Ashland with 75-yards on 19 plays, while Lawrence County ran 30 plays gaining 169 yards.
Lawrence County would outscore Ashland 13-7 in the half.
Baker scored for Ashland on a nice 28 yard run.
The kid has speed and some nice moves which hurt the Lawrence County defense all night long. There were times the Dawgs defense knew they were in trouble as soon as Baker got the ball.
A .J. Cyrus scored the first time for the Dawgs on 14 yard run and Prince hit the point after.
The final score from Lawrence County came on a 8 yard pass from Cyrus to Devon Perry. The kicked failed. Leaving the score at, 51-20.

I know #6 Braxton Harshaw only had one carry but he looked like he could have had 100 plus if he got the carries.

I know he is senior my question is he going to be strictly a back up this season and has he always been a back up player?

He was in and out of the game on offense defense and special teams. Was hard to tell how much he will be used in this game since it got out of hand so early. Maybe someone who saw the team practice and scrimmage in the offseason could tell you.
