Default Man Continues To Live With Mom & Brother After Their Deaths
Robert James Kuefler, of Minnesota, has been charged with interference with a dead body or scene of death. Police found the bodies of Kuefler's mother and brother in their family home in 2016, after they had both been dead for over a year.

Police didn't figure out that the people had died for over a year until a neighbor reported that the home's grass was unkempt, and that there hadn't been much movement around the house in quite some time. 94-year-old Evelyn Kuefler apparently died in August 2015, several months after the death of Richard Kuefler, both from apparent natural causes.

Before you start thinking this a real life case of Norman Bates, this story is more strange than murderous...

The reason that Kuefler was only charged with interference with a dead body or scene of death was because he moved his brother's body after he had died; nothing else criminal took place. Social security checks and benefits continued to be deposited in his mother's and brother's accounts but there is no evidence that any money was withdrawn from them.

"I am not some nut ball," the maintenance worker said in a telephone interview. "People think I am, but I'm not. I loved them."

The local police department do no think that Kuefler broke any laws, and only decided to press the minimal charge because this would help him enter the court system in order to get help. Kuefler has no previous criminal history.

"This is our way of introducing this case onto the court," Hager said. "We do believe his actions violated the law. Moving the body of his brother disrupted the death scene."
