RICHMOND, Ky. After seeing its five-point halftime lead evaporate, EKU scored 10 straight to take control in a 91-69 exhibition victory over Georgetown College on Friday at McBrayer Arena.

A three-pointer by Shadell Millinghaus capped a 5-0 run by the Tigers to start the second half and tied the score 37-37. However, freshman Peyton Broughton scored six points to key a 10-0 run and the Colonels controlled the game the rest of the way. Dujuanta Weaver's coast-to-coast lay-up finished off the run and put the home team up 47-37 with 15:49 left in the game.

EKU used another 10-0 run later in the half to double its lead to 20. Dedric Boyd hit a three pointer and made two free throws during the spurt. DeAndre Dishman's lay-up polished off the run and put the Colonels ahead 67-47 with 9:39 to go.

Nick Mayo finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Boyd scored 18 points, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals. Zach Charles finished with 12 points and seven boards. JacQuess Hobbs contributed seven points and nine assists with no turnovers.

The Colonels fell behind 17-10 before using a 25-8 run to take control in the first half. Charles got it started by knocking down a lay-up and two free throws. He contributed six points during the run. Six straight points by Broughton, Mayo and Boyd tied the game, 21-21, for the first time since it was 2-2 early. Weaver's three-pointer from the right wing give EKU its first lead, 26-23. Mayo and Hobbs combined for the final nine points of the run. A three-pointer from Hobbs finished it off and made it a 35-25 game.

Eastern took a 37-32 lead into the locker room at the break. The Colonels turned the ball over 14 times in the first half, but out-rebounded the Tigers 23-9 and scored 20 points in the paint.

Millinghaus scored a team-best 20 points for Georgetown. Quan Poindexter and Jacob Conway added 11 each.

EKU turned the ball over only five times in the second half. The Colonels shot 52 percent for the game from the field and made 7-of-20 from three-point range (35 percent). Eastern out-rebounded the Tigers 46-22 and scored 18 second-chance points off 17 offensive boards.

Georgetown made 43 percent of its shots and just 29 percent from long range. The Tigers turned it over 18 times.

The Colonels will officially begin their 2017-18 season on Friday, Nov. 10, at Rice University. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.

Good debut for Peyton Broughton of North Laurel. He started at the two guard, and scored 12 on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, while playing 25 minutes.
