TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The No. 2-ranked Alabama football team kept its undefeated season intact with a 24-10 win over No. 19 LSU at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday night.

The Crimson Tide (9-0, 6-0 SEC) has now won seven straight against the Tigers (6-3, 3-2 SEC).

The Alabama defensive unit has yet to allow a touchdown in the first half of a Southeastern Conference game this season and were led by senior linebacker Rashaan Evans' 10 tackles, including one sack, and sophomore Raekwon Davis, who totaled a career-high nine tackles, while also finishing with a sack.

On the offensive side of the ball, sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts compiled 227 yards of total offense, going 11-of-24 for 183 yards and a score through the air. He also rushed for a team-high 44 yards on 14 carries to go with a rushing touchdown. Junior wide receiver Calvin Ridley led the UA receivers with three catches for 61 yards.

The two teams began the game by exchanging punts, before the Alabama offense took over at its own 10-yard line on its second offensive possession. On the sixth play of the drive, Hurts found freshman wide receiver Henry Ruggs III for a 47 yard pitch-and-catch to setup the UA offense at the LSU 18-yard line. Three plays later, the Crimson Tide cashed in when Hurts found sophomore tight end Irv Smith Jr. for a four-yard touchdown. After senior placekicker Andy Pappanastos converted the point after attempt, the Tide led 7-0 with 6:08 left in the opening quarter.

Later in the first quarter, after an Alabama punt, LSU setup at the its own 39-yard line when junior defensive back Ronnie Harrison jumped the route and picked off the Tigers pass at the LSU 43-yard line, returning the pick a total of six yards to give the UA offense great field position.

Only 51 seconds later, Alabama capitalized on the LSU turnover, using four plays to go 37 yards, capped by junior running back Bo Scarbrough's rumble through Tiger defenders on his way to the end zone from nine yards out. Following the Pappanastos PAT, the Tide led 14-0 with 14:17 left in the second quarter.

The Tigers responded on the next drive with a 13-play 71-yard drive that ended with a 21-yard field goal to trim the Tide lead to 14-3 with 8:38 remaining in the first half.

The two defenses held the respective offenses at bay for the remainder of the half, giving the Tide a 14-3 advantage going into the break.

Each team came out of halftime trading several punts apiece before the Alabama offense took over at its own 44-yard line with 5:17 to go in the third quarter. The Tide then strung together seven plays while amassing 56 yards, capping the drive with Hurts going untouched into the end zone for a three-yard rushing touchdown. Following the Pappanastos kick, Alabama led 21-3 with 2:55 left in the third quarter.

The LSU offense responded quickly, going 67 yards on four plays in 1:07, finishing with a two-yard touchdown scamper to cut the Alabama lead to 21-10 with 1:48 remaining in the third quarter.

On the ensuing Alabama drive, the Tide answered by driving 52 yards on 11 plays, closing with Pappanastos splitting the uprights on a 40-yard field goal attempt to extend the UA lead to 24-10 with 13:25 left in the game.

The Alabama defense finished the game strong with three sacks in the fourth quarter to dash LSU's comeback hopes.

Alabama returns to action Saturday, Nov. 11 at No. 16 Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. The game will air on ESPN at 6 p.m. CT.
