Good for Barker and UK. Just never worked out for Barker here, the back injury sidelined him in 2016 and led to the emergence of Stephen Johnson. He would've most likely been beaten out for the starting job this spring by Gunnar Hoak, Terry Wilson or Danny Clark anyways. Best of luck to the young man wherever he decides to go.

No surprise like someone else already said. Good luck to the young man. Coming into Kentucky he was suppose to be the greatest thing since sliced bread and there was so much hype around him and we never really saw him develop and he had that whole ordeal with the off the field stuff so I don't know if that's to blame for his never progressing or he just was not the QB our scouts thought he would be.

Congrats on your degree young man. Will be curious to see where he ends up hanging his hat for one last season of eligibility.

Things didn't go to well for Towles when he transfered to BC. Hopefully Barkers experience is a better one!

He led them to a bowl win and a 7-6 record, essentially the same as UK last season. Preliminary reports are saying Barker is Cincinnati bound.

For what ever reason there seemed to always be something holding Barker back from being successful - immaturity, injury, etc. So this provides a much needed fresh start for both sides. Good luck to him wherever he decides to go. While UK has a brand new era at QB with none of the QBs on the roster having taken a snap.

A little bird has told me Mr. Barker is hanging up the shoulder pads, and moving on from football, best of luck to the young man.

I've heard the same thing. Not transferring from UK but hanging up the shoulder pads. His back could still be messed up
