Default North Carolina State 76 Notre Dame 58
RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men's basketball team never trailed on its way to defeating Notre Dame in emphatic fashion, 76-58, Saturday afternoon at PNC Arena.

With its third win in a row, NC State improves to 16-7 (6-4 ACC), while Notre Dame falls to 13-10 (3-7 ACC). It marks the first time since the 2014-15 season that the Wolfpack has won three consecutive games in conference play.

Three members of the Wolfpack scored in double figures. Torin Dorn led all players on the floor with 21 point, setting his career-high for points in an ACC game. Braxton Beverly tallied 16 points off of an impressive 6-of-9 shooting performance, and Omer Yurtseven posted his sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Markell Johnson continued to impress with his fourth consecutive and sixth overall game with double-digit assists, as he finished with 10. NC State assisted on 20 of its 30 made field goals on the day.

NC State shot 30-of-60 (.500) as a team, the third time that it has connected on 50 percent or better from the field during ACC competition. The Pack was also dominant on defense, as the Fighting Irish's 58 points were the fewest allowed by NC State in an ACC game since March 7, 2015, when the Wolfpack defeated Syracuse 71-57.

NC State jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, holding Notre Dame scoreless for the first 4:25 of the game. Five of the Wolfpack's first nine points were generated from Fighting Irish turnovers.

The Wolfpack did not look back, as it led by as many as 19 (35-16) in the first period of action and took a 37-21 advantage into halftime. NC State's defense was stifling in the first half, holding Notre Dame to just 7-of-27 (.259) shooting. Notre Dame's 21 first-half points tied as the fewest points scored against the Pack in the first 20 minutes of play this season.

NC State's momentum continued as it came out of the break, with the Pack forcing steals on back-to-back Notre Dame possessions in the early minutes of the second half. Both steals led to baskets by Beverly, as the Wolfpack opened up the final period of play on a 9-2 run and doubled the Fighting Irish's score (46-23).

At the 12:16 mark of the second half, Dorn nailed a three-pointer to put him over the 1,000 points mark in his collegiate career.

A late 11-1 Fighting Irish run to close out the game was not enough, as the Wolfpack built up a lead of as much as 30 (68-38) in the second half to emerge victorious.

Up next, NC State travels to Blacksburg, Va. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 for a midweek matchup with Virginia Tech. The game is scheduled to tip at 9 p.m. and will be televised on Regional Sports Networks.
