Default (25) Life 81 Campbellsville 73
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. After pulling within four points in the last 90 seconds of regulation, Campbellsville was unable to complete the comeback as dropped an 81-73 contest to No. 25 Life University on Thursday night inside the Powell Athletic Center.

Tim Coleman recorded a team-best 18 points for the Tigers (18-7, 3-6 Mid-South Conference), while Duke Robinson chipped in with 13 points and Jalen Coates had 11 points in the game.

Jay Johnson led all scorers with 22 points for the Running Eagles (17-8, 5-3 MSC) and Undra Mitchem notched 18 points. In total, Life had five players reach double figures on Thursday night.

Both teams got off to a strong start and they played close to start the game. The score was tied four times in the first eight minutes and changed hands five times.

The Running Eagles created some separation after going a tear from the floor with a stretch that saw them shoot 9-for-10 from the floor and 8-for-9 from beyond arc. That run ended right before the second timeout of the first half and Life stretched its lead to 38-26 with 6:01 left before halftime.

Campbellsville chipped away at its deficit and ended the half on a 15-4 run and scored the final six points of the half. Despite the late run, the Running Eagles led 42-41 at the intermission.

In the first 20 minutes of action, Life shot 48.3 percent and 50 percent from three. The Tigers closed the half shooting 51.4 percent from the floor, but shot just 4-for-14 from deep.

The second half saw a similar look to the first. The Running Eagles expanded its lead to 10 points just before the first media timeout. Despite falling behind early in the second half, the Tigers stuck around and the largest lead Life took was 14 points (73-59) at the 8:05 mark in regulation on bucket from Zach Landis the Running Eagles final field goal of the night.

Once again, Campbellsville made another run and cut into its deficit. An 8-1 run from the Tigers pulled them back within four points with just 1:25 left in regulation. The Campbellsville defense locked down and did not allow the Running Eagles to convert a field goal over the final 8:05 action. Life ended the game missing its last seven shots, but it made eight of its last nine free throws to escape with an 81-73 win at the Powell Athletic Center.

After shooting just 32.3 percent in the second half, the Tigers ended with an overall field goal percentage of 42.4 percent. The Running Eagles shot 49 percent for the game.

In the all-time series between Campbellsville and Life, the Tigers have lost four straight-games, but still holds a narrow 7-6 edge. Former Campbellsville head coach Keith Adkins now head coach at Life is 11-2 in the 13-game series. Adkins beat Life seven times when he coached the Tigers and he has won all for games against Campbellsville since taking over the Running Eagle program.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET against No. 21 University of the Cumberlands at home inside the Powell Athletic Center.
