Default Campbellsville 67 UPIKE 65 (MSC Tourney)
PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Fifth-seeded Campbellsville upset top-seeded University of Pikeville 67-65 in the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Rze Culbreath and Darrion Leslie each scored 14 points for UPIKE (28-4) which, despite the loss, expects to hear its named called Wednesday night as an at-large selection during the NAIA National Championship bracket reveal.

Campbellsville's Andrew Smith had a double-double with 25 points and 22 rebounds to propel the Tigers (23-9) past UPIKE as it also shot better from the field as a team at 47-37 percent. On the defensive end, Smith added four blocks.

UPIKE sprinted out to an 11-3 lead before finishing the first half up by a single point at 27-26. Campbellsville took control of the lead early in the second half by scoring the first six points to go up 32-27. UPIKE didn't regain the lead until a Jordan Perry jumper made it 38-36 with just over 12 minutes to play.

Pikeville eventually held a 50-42 lead with 8:04 remaining when Campbellsville went on an 11-0 run. By the end of the game-changing segment of action, the Tigers had outscored the Bears 17-2 to lead by seven with 4:16 to play. It ended up being the Tigers' largest lead of the game.

This time around it was the Bears putting together a run as it scored seven of the next nine points to make it a two-point game with 1:44 on the clock.

After a steal by Chase Parsley and a field goal by Rodney Hawkins, the game was tied at 63 with 55 seconds remaining. Smith was fouled under the basket on the following possession and knocked down two free throws to give the lead back to Campbellsville at 65-63.

UPIKE missed its next two shots, including a short jumper by Parsley and layup by Leslie, forcing them to send Smith back to the line. Smith made two more free throws to make the lead four with 10 seconds left, prompting Leslie to have to score a quick bucket on the other end.

Smith finally missed a freebie after being sent to the line on the next possession, but the Bears only had eight seconds to operate and its final shot was a missed 3-pointer by Hawkins that would have been the game winner if it had fallen as time expired.

No. 5-seed Campbellsville will meet No. 6-seed Campbellsville in the finals at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday after LWC upset No. 2 Georgetown in Saturday's last matchup.
