What is wrong with people?

First the Tea Party audience applauds and cheers "let em' die" and now an entire GOP crowd boos a soldier just because he was gay. This man fought for our way of life, but we boo him just because he is homo??? Oh by the way Santorum said he would reinstate Don't Ask/Don't Tell. Not one Republican candidate stood up for that soldier and the media and other conservitives are mad about it.

Was it the soldier who was booed or the soldiers question: "My question is, under one of your presidencies, do you intend to circumvent the progress that's been made for gay and lesbian soldiers in the military?" Immediately after the question is when the booing took place.

They booed a soldier who was gay and asking a very civil question. No class no matter how you look at it.

^ I'm not justifying them booing a soldier, but let's not make this a GOP thing. Who the hell were the hippies! They sure as hell were not Republicans, but the did a hell of a lot more than BOO vietnam soldiers. Idiots of all race, creed and political affiliation have booed our soldiers - and all of them were wrong. But it's plain stupid to say this is a republican base. We all know that people who attend rally's, debates, and public events are all demented and do not represent either side of the political line, so this is a none story if it is intended to be about how one side thinks!

I only said GOP because it was a Republican audience. I hate hippies and what they did then. Protest the war, not the soldiers.

^ That I agree with completely. Like I said, idiots attend events like this, not those of us who represent any common sense. I'm not saying forgive the idiots, but if we shoot them all, then I guess we are just as bad as them?????

What gets me the most is not one single person on the stage stood up and thanked that soldier for his service, nor did they tell the crowd to show respect for the man. Instead they set there silently, making sure they didn't do anything to lose votes. Shows something about their characters if you ask me.

Sounds like a few people booed the characterization of the repeal of DADT as "progress." Of course, liberals will interpret the booing as being due to the fact that the questioner was gay. Does anybody really believe Republicans just walk around looking for gays to boo?

I can tell you from experience that soldiers in the nation's capital (an extremely liberal area, BTW) report to duty in civilian clothes and then change into their uniforms to avoid being harassed by fellow Americans. Who among you believe that they do so mainly to avoid being harassed by conservatives? I agree with the OP. What is wrong with people?

And I didn't doubt for a minute that you wouldn't come on here and change it around to take a shot at liberals. If this would have been a liberal debate with an liberal audience I would have said the samething.
No I don't, nor do I think anyone believes Republicans go around looking for gay people to boo at. That's stupid to suggest. They did however boo a soldier who is gay and the GOP candidates did nothing to stop them, protecting their votes.

Not hoot? Really? He wouldn't do that.

Are you a mind reader? What makes you think that everybody who booed was booing the fact that the soldier (assuming that he was, in fact, a soldier) was gay and not booing the way that the man loaded his question? Liberals have a history of infiltrating GOP events and the media has a history of spinning their dirty tricks. How many times do we learn after instances like this one that the questioner (or heckler) was not who they claimed to be?

Candidates have no obligation to waste their limited time defending possible gate crashers from the audience. The purpose of the debates is for candidates to articulate their positions and try to persuade voters that they are worthy of support. If you don't like the way that the candidates reacted, then vote for the socialist who is running for reelection.

I heard only a few boos. I thought nothing of it because ANYTIME there are that many people in one place, there is always going to be some idiots mixed in...I don't care what party they are affiliated with. In no way is it fair to characterize the GOB for what a few fools do.
