Kentucky State Police in Morehead are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy from Elliott County.Police were called to Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital just after noon Wednesday after the Morgan County coroner pronounced the infant dead, according to a news release.
The infant's father, Rodney McDowell, said that he lay the baby on his bed and went to check on his other child in another room. He told police he returned "no longer than three minutes later" and found the baby caught between the mattress, headboard and wall and that a sheet was over his head.He was unresponsive, according to the news release.
Police said it appears to be accidental, pending the results of the autopsy.
