Newt Gingrich the New Front-runner
#61
^Those of us who actually lived and schooled during the days when the draft was in force know how rediculous your post declaring Newt a draft dodger really is. According to your logic EVERY commissioned officer in the armed services is/was a draft dodger. Dwight D Eisnehower, Omar Bradley, George S Patton, Chester Nimitz, you know, real scum like those guys. :lame:

You could not find a more biased source if you tried, and given your reading habits, not much effort is required to find all the good left wing propaganda mills. Clinton even plugged Salon during at least one official press conference, just weeks after it was launched by his supporters.

I am still waiting for you to criticize Barack Obama for one single action or policy. Just one. You are a hack.

Given that you have so much time on your hands, you should be able to make a positive case for reelecting the socialist in the White House instead of digging up old columns from Salon.com to smear his opponents.

BTW, is the government paying you to stay home and smear the GOP field?

I love how liberals wrap themselves in the flag and attack Republican candidates as "draft dodgers" after giving their full support to Bill Clinton, who was a real life, bona-fide, authentic, certified draft dodger. :hilarious:

This kind of thing is what disgusts me about the continual glowing tributes coming from all sides with regard to Bill Clinton and his legacy. From his draft dodging days, to the "under the president's desk sexual forays" and his lying to congress, his impeachment should have gone through. He didn't deserve to stay in office and he emboldened liberals to just invent any truth they are comfortable with and lie like dogs about it.

I like Gingrich, but it doesn't matter who it is. If it were somebody from the Simpsons, South Park, or Family Guy, I would vote for them. Heck, I would even vote for a President/Vice-President combination like Stardust and Sparty. Big Grin

I am disgusted with politicians on both sides. You parrot the ultraliberal drivel of the worst hack ultraliberal sites to attack conservatives. Huge difference which I realize is way beyond your grasp.

Totally agree. It isn't, nor has it ever been the case, that conservatives are the perfect ones. There's a big difference between personally flawed politicians who happen to govern well, and personally flawed politicians who don't govern well.

In life those that point fingers of blame and complain about other people, are justifying their own failings by baming others for them. These democratic so called strategies to win, by making others look worse than they do, is the lowest level of political existence in my book. The bias and hatred created by the left as they defame the republicans they are in competition with is unacceptable. In just the same way the attacks of the left come full force against the republican presidential front runner of the week, do they come against any political rival. If the republican party completely disbanded as of today, and elevated the libertarians, we'll say, to prominence. Guess who the dems would begin to attack immediately?

It isn't about politics and an honorable representative form of government anymore. It's so simple when one looks at the real origin of the democratic strategy. What are MOST legislators? LAWYERS How do lawyers win arguments? By discrediting or giving credit to witnesses! Ultimate irony in my mind? US taxpayers are forced to pay huge salaries to liberal think tank staffers to sit around and think up lies to discredit and thoroughly destroy the credibility of all republicans. The body needs the right hand as well as the left. To hate the right hand is lunacy! Whether the Dems know it or not America needs the republicans to help govern. But, getting back to how lawyers manipulate outcomes. Take the OJ Simpson trial, which I believe will go down as the trial of the century. Not only did Johnny Cochran discredit the witnesses, he discredited the dna evidence, along with the WHOLE prosecuting legal team and other physical evidence, such as the gloves, with the perfect blend of juris-misdirection. Plus, Cochran knew OJ was a sports hero, an icon's icon. He knew the common man wanted to believe OJ was innocent. He just gave them what they wanted, a reason to believe. It's like a good car salesman already knows. People looking at cars often want to be talked into buying, all he has to do is just keep fanning that flame of desire, bragging on looks, performance, amenities, resale value, etc. then just set the hook at the right time.

Democrats, like the car salesman, know what their base is all about. A hodge-podge of folks that want stuff from the government. Whether that would be legislation legitimizing a questionable lifestyle, or some form of off the wall ideology, like the liberal agenda or the green agenda/golbal warming, both rooted and nourished by the acedamia, or the social justice goofs like Bill Ayers and George Soros. Democrats basically say to one and all, vote for me and then place your order, I'll get the government to just give it to you once I'm in, then of course, to keep on getting it, you will have to keep voting me in. Never ever, vote for one of those slimy, anti-American rich, fat cat supporting republicans, cause they won't give you stuff.

The fact that character issues continue to plague members of congress and some of our presidents, is unfortunate but, the campaign of character assasination waged by the dems against the conservative cause and those who espouse conservativism, generally republicans, to me are acts of treason. I mean, what is the worst thing one could name to impun any republican president after 1925? The Watergate scandal of Richard M Nixon maybe? Bad? Sure. But, secretly taping stragegy meetings can't begin to approach the crimes of Bill Clinton and the liberal members of the congress who spoke up for him. (If you didn't hear John Conyers of (D) Mich and Shelia Jackson Lee (D) Tex, you missed a real dog and pony show! Nixon did stand up and take the fall in the end, but, others concieved and implimented the plan that became known as Watergate. Nixon, even though shamed and politically destroyed put THE COUNTRY ahead of hmself. Not Billy Boy, nothing is so big as himself in his mind. Heck with the good of the land, this is me we're talking about!

Now, say what you will, that is basically how the Dems operate. That isn't governance, it's a house of cards, built on the backs of decent working folks. It's a quid pro quo of votes for favors and it will bring down these United States. It is now advanced to the point where we are ready and poised with the legislative guillotine hanging over the heads of the department of defense. Ready to strip our armed services of any real capability to defend America in a meaningful fashion by taking funding away from them and just handing it to people who largely don't contribute one thing to this great land. Just as it is the play of the lunatic to hate his right hand, the starving man who would think to canabalize himself is an equally crazy solution. By taking money from defense we are literally cutting off and eating our own extremities.

I agree with jetpilot's rationale, one could likely improve the state of affairs dramatically by just drawing a name out of a hat, or maybe let a blindfoled person point to a name in a phone book for interim president until the 2012 election.

Newt might be gaining ground in the GOP, but he would be hard pressed to defeat Obama. Romney is the only GOP candidate who can pull in enough of the independent vote to remove Obama from office. Newt would run really well with conservatives, but it will take pulling in the moderate vote also to win the presidency, and I don't think he can do that like Romney. If Newt gets the nod then look for 4 more years of Obama imo.

^ True about Romney being more attractive to the moderate vote, but I think a good majority is fed up with obama now for him to be re-elected. If Gingrich goes, there is no doubt in my mind that he will rip and shred obama to pieces in the debates. I'll admit I'm a conservative and I'm biased in that regard, but Gingrich can debate like none other. IMO through that alone, he would be able to pull in a lot of votes.

Regardless of who goes, one thing needs to be done...and that's to make sure obama gets out of there!

I agree fully. The media and the posters in this forum are quick to dismiss GOP candidates as being too conservative to attract moderates and independents. The fact that they conveniently overlook is that Obama won those votes in 2008 by convincing moderates and independents that he would govern from the middle.

After two years' worth of far left wing policies and judicial appointments, Obama has an uphill battle facing him to fool moderates and independents into thinking that he is one of their own again. Those voters will have a choice between voting for a candidate who is much more liberal than themselves or much more conservative. Given the sad state of the nation's economy and the abject failure of Obama's economic policies to create a meaningful number of jobs, I think that voters will find it increasingly difficult to "stay the course."

I think the hatred between Liberals and Conservatives is becoming a hindrance to our country, and has been for the past 4-5 years. We need to get past that petty horse shit and be more open to other's ideas.

Of course, it will take a major disaster of some sort to make that happen though. Always does.

I agree with you in principle. I would qualify that with the following; I believe people for the most part believe what they want to believe. For instance, if Senate Leader Harry Reid or or House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, stands before the American public and declares the republicans are holding America hostage by not allowing critical legislation to pass through the congress, a lot of folks are going to accept that for the truth just because they belong to the democatic party.

The real truth is democrats want legislation that only they support. They table, or simply won't allow legislatioin coming up from the House to be brought up on the floor of the Senate. We had some great bills come up such as cut cap and balance, that just were not brought up on the floor of the Senate and died for lack of any action. The one and only reason for not even allowing a debate on the bill was because the dems didn't like it so they killed it. Another example, the United States has been operating without a budget now for nearly 1000 days. In both of these cases, the dems have blamed the republicans for this outrageous deriliction of duty. They had a total lock on government before the elections of 2010 when they lost their so called, Super Majority. The Harry Reid led Senate and the Nancy Pelosi led House were dominated by the dems and they could push anything through they darn well pleased. We got ObamaCare and the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, yet, we languish in financial limbo without a budget. But, according to the dems, the republicans are the ones who are hurting the public by not doing their jobs. What a joke.

Obama has used this ruse to malign their republican counterparts with merciless verbal assaults day after day. The democrats weren't sent to Washington to get rid of their colleagues across the aisle, they were sent there to work WITH them. The anti conservative drum beat is as incessant as it is brutal. Why would the dems hate the republicans so much? I can tell you what I believe is the problem. By in large, the politicians that are professing Christians, or align themselves with the conservative right are despised by the liberal left. People like Sarah Palin, George Bush, Michelle Bachmann, Allan West, Rick Perry and eveybody associated with the Tea Party Caucus, (as far as I can determine there are no democratic Tea Party members) are lampooned with regularity, made to look stupid or simple minded at absolutely every opportunity, or vilified by airing an ads showing a republican pushing grandma off a cliff. It's a propaganda campaign, pure and simple.

Folks, we are watching the US Congress self destruct, taking all Americans down with them. There is a very simple solution to the madness, vote these activist ideologues out. It will only take a couple elections to send the message. At least we can get them to pull their horns in a little bit, right now they are lying to themselves calling the sweeping elections of 2010 a fluke. 2012 will effectively be the day reality finally hits home for these extremists. By the way, is anybody else as sick as I am of the dems calling good men that merely adhere to the values that American is built on "Right Wing Extremists?"

I would challenge anybody who bothers to listen to the news these days to actually ask themselves to identify who is slamming who, the vast majority of the time. In fact, if one listens to the news, there is only one alternative, if you don't want to hear the constant, democratically spewn drone of republican bashing blather, and of course, that would be FOX NEWS. As I have mentioned in the past, I don't accept an awful lot of what I hear on FOX, but, one will have a reasonable opportunity to hear the truth. If Obama's lips are moving he's republican bashing. It has been a long time since I have heard any democrat speak on ANY subject without hearing them trash republicans in some form or fashion. I guarantee, the dems are guilty of it by a ratio of more than 10 to 1.

So, although I agree the hatred has to stop, and I am by no means saying that the republicans are innocent of any wrong doing, no, what I am saying is the offender-in-chief and his minions are usually the ones doing the hate speech. Thereby propagating their own poisonous perspective. Really, the scarry part is wondering if the run-away hate train can even be slowed down, much less stopped. I mean, how could anyone justify Obama's threat to shut down the government even though the republicans are certainly willing to give Obama his extentions on unemployment and payroll taxes in exchange for the Canadian Pipeline? Are we that far gone that we can't recognize this kind of threat is more the definition of holding someone hostage than the congress going through it's two century old process of hammering out good legislation?
