Swimming: Camels look for more state qualifiers
#1
ALEXANDRIA — The Campbell County High School swimming and diving team has mostly been “diving” at the state meet in recent seasons.

Second-year head coach Amy Dorsey said the team is poised to have the “swimming” part come into play in Louisville next February.

The Camels had two state qualifiers in diving last year, and one of them returns in junior Ally Baker, who finished 30th at state and was 10th in the regional meet. Kristen Spahr has a shot to join her this year. She was 12th at regionals.

The Camels have several veteran swimmers coming back. Leading the boys team are William Carson, Ryan Field, Matthew Dreyer, Kyle Van Druten and Matthew Neiser. Carson, Field and Shawn Witte are seniors. The Camels had a pair of top-10 relays at the regional meet.

Top girls swimmers are Amberlee Stemmer, Lydia Bear and Nicole Robertson. The girls swimming team is young with one senior (Bear) and two juniors.

Dorsey has 47 athletes listed on her roster.
