New York Giants vs New England Patriots (Super Bowl XLVI - 2/5/12)
#91
Great play by Arrington
#92
Patriots offense going to open in big package, with Nate Solder as TE. Just like Nov. 6 meeting between teams. Field position one reason why
#93
Safety. 2-0 Giants.
#94
Not the way the Patriots wanted to start. Brady had plenty of time off play action, but threw to nowhere as he was getting pressured from Tuck
#95
Tuck picks up where he left off in SB42 with pressure on Brady, leading to safety. Third safety for Giants this season.
#96
Tom Brady stars the first possession with the play-action and a throw deep.. to nobody. Nobody was in the middle of the field. And the refs call INTENTIONAL GROUNDING because nobody was in the area. And he threw it in the end zone so the play results in a SAFETY!!!

2-0 GIANTS.

Did that really just happen? The first score of the game is a safety? Wow.
#98
Sixth safety in Super Bowl history.
#99
Giants will start their next drive on the 23.
Patriots are playing a lot of zone. But they have to make their tackles with this game plan.
Giants score on a safety on New England's first play from scrimmage. Brady was facing a strong rush from Justin Tuck, and just winged it down the field. Since no one was in position to make the catch, and because Brady was in the end zone when he threw, the intentional grounding call results in a safety. Giants 2, Patriots 0
Already six different players have caught passes for the Giants.
Shaun Ellis in there on the DL too. Wilfork back in now. Heavy rotation. Helps explain Silvestro promotion
And the Giants haven't even threatened the Patriots vertically. NE needs to step up right now.
Brandon Jacobs runs right but gets jammed up at the line of scrimmage and fights his way for 3 yards. The Giants are running their 17th play of the game now.
12 guys on the field?
Mayo tried to jump in front of Cruz there. Had his back to Manning
LAST PLAY L.Tynes extra point is GOOD, Center-Z.DeOssie, Holder-S.Weatherford.

Lawrence Tynes #9 PK
FG XP PTS
0-0 1 1
Patriots look confused. How many times can you say that about a Belichick-coached team?
V.Cruz 2 yd. pass from E.Manning (L.Tynes kick is good) Drive: 9 plays, 78 yards in 5:28
Giants bring in Brandon Jacobs but use him as a decoy. Eli drops back and hits Victor Cruz in the slot for a quick TOUCHDOWN!

Giants take a 9-0 lead!
No question that the Pats are not to be written off. They have only had one offensive play!
LAST PLAY L.Tynes kicks 67 yards from NYG 35 to NE -2. J.Edelman to NE 29 for 31 yards (D.Grant).

Julian Edelman #11 KR
NO AVG TD

I don't think Pats D is doing too badly... But, they are letting Giants move the chain... Couple of costly penalties
This is a crazy start. The Patriots have to be shaken. Brady struggles at times, but a coaching mistake on defense in a big game? Unprecedented.
Danny Woodhead returns the kick from the end zone and takes it to the 29-yard line.
11 minutes into the Super Bowl and the Patriots have had one single snap.
LAST PLAY 1st and 10 at NYG 31: (No Huddle, Shotgun) B.Green-Ellis right guard to NYG 27 for 4 yards (C.Blackburn).

BenJarvus Green-Ellis #42 RB
ATT YDS AVG LG TD
2 3 1.5 4 0
LAST PLAY 2nd and 6 at NYG 27: W.Welker left end to NYG 17 for 10 yards (A.Ross).

Wes Welker #83 WR
REC YDS AVG LG TD
1 19 19.0 19 0
This Welker guy is a pretty good player
