Magoffin Co. 49 - Paintsville 40 (15th Region Championship)
#1
Final. Lady Hornets pull out the victory for another Regional Championship. This is a very good way to start the healing process for our community in this time of devistation. Congrats girls, you earned it. And thanks to everyone for all the support. It's greatly appreciated.

Was a great game. Lady Tigers had their chances. Just couldn't capitalize. Good Luck to Coach Miller and the Lady Hornets! We are all rooting for you!

Ummm, I think you mean parading through Floyd or Magoffin County.. Johnson County would be WAY out of the way for those young ladies. But yeah, congrats to those girls, excellent game! Good luck at state!
#7
Congrats MC! I said before the tournament started they were the clear favorite and they proved that last night. Good Luck at the State Tournament Girls!
#8
Way to Go Hornets! Go to Bowling Green and make some noise. You have a lot to be proud of.
#9
I would parade through Johnson Co. Afterall, that's where Paintsville is. They probably went through downtown Paintsville. Congrats Hornets!

I'm sure that was Pup's idea. That shouldn't surprise anyone who witnessed his classless taunting fist pump directed straight at PHS' Coach Baldwin after that bogus three point shooting "foul" call at the end of the third quarter. I know he's an emotional guy, and a fiery coach. But, he is also responsible for conducting himself in a composed, professionally courteous manner while representing his school, and the fine young ladies on his team. Lost some respect for him at that moment. That being said, congratulations to the Lady Hornets, MCHS, and to Coach Miller.

Congrats Girls!

There was no CLEAR favorite though.....Paintsville or SV could of beat them on any given night.

but MC wanted it more than anybody, therefore they got what they deserved, A trip to BG.

Your kidding, right?
Before you post, you should probably know that they are really good friends and they never disrespect each other.

They went the long way because the entry back to the school board from Rt 114 and from Rt 7 was shut down for emergency vehicles only due to the Tornado.

I guess they could have went 114 back to Salyersville and then took 460 back to Paintsville and then came Rt 40 back to Salyersville to stay off of US 23.

Give it a break! It was easier to go straight to Paintsville on 23 and not turn off at Prestonsburg.

Magoffin County traveled the normal route, US 23 to Prestonsburg then KY 114 to the BP outside of town where parents picked up the players. They didnt even go to Magoffin Co High School. I followed the bus home so I have that on pretty good information.

As to the classless, fist pumping nonsense that was posted.. Please, be serious. Both teams and coaches had great seasons. Both coaches are emotional and passionate about their teams as they should be. I have watched every game that MCHS and Paintsville played each other this year plus I have seen every single game Magoffin played this year. In my humble opinion, these two teams were the best in the region all year. Both teams deserved to be in the finals. Either team could have won four of the five games with the district finals being the only lopsided victory. As a Magoffin Fan I certainly did not want to play Paintsville for a fifth time. The 57th district was by far and away the best district in the region while the news media and pundits chose Shelby Valley as the best all year. Paintsville was definitely the best team in the 15th early in the season but the momentum swung after the Magoffin victories in the All A regional and especially after a victory in the All A in Frankfort. That is probably the difference in the season for both teams. Magoffin is undefeated since their All A loss. IF Sheldon Clark would have been healthy all season the 57th district and 15th region could have been different story.

Above all else it is a game. I doubt that any of these girls will make a living playing basketball. Hopefully some of the fortunate ones will get a scholarship to pay for their higher education. Folks have died and others have lost everything in just the past week. Let us not forget these. Why can we not cheer for the victors and console the runner-up?

You both are completely wrong! They got off 23 in Prestonsburg and went up 114 to Salyersville with no escorts watsoever from anywhere! They met parents at the BP on 114 to get their kids..get your facts straight before you post anything far from the truth!

I know them both, and I know they are good friends. I was there, close, and everyone in that arena saw it clearly. He looked straight at Coach Baldwin, and pumped his fist directly at him. The fact that EVERYONE knows that they have been good friends for a long time is one reason it was it was so shocking. But, it was out of line, unsportmanlike, and directed at him, and it pissed Coach Baldwin off royally, and it was a flagrant act of disrespect. Pup owes him a sincere apology for that one. I know exactly of what I am stating before I post it.

Congrats Lady Hornets, good luck tomorrow in Bowling Green.

I see that you are a mind reader and that you knew what was going through Pup's mind at the time.
I guess that he shouldn't have been excited over a big play?
The game is over; let it go and get ready for softball.
Also I promise you that don't know Pup as well as I do.

I love Pup's coaching style and love him as a coach as proven in some of my previous posts.

However, I watched him throw his garbage behind the seats at the Expo numerous times when a garbage can was a few feet away.

Acts really cocky to me, like he's coach Cal or something.

Good Luck to the Lady Hornets in Bowling Green. This isn't about the coaches and their lack of control on the sidelines.
#23
It's funny because pup and baldwin talked after the game fot about 45 minutes on the phone about the game. They are great friends and baldwin knows nothing was directed towards him. I promise you that.

I saw this incident also, didn't like it, but I'm sure it was the heat of the moment kind of thing and I don't think Coach Miller meant anything towards Coach Baldwin. I truly think he has nothing but respect for Coach Baldwin and the Lady Tigers. I think of all the teams in the regional, the Lady Tigers were who he dreaded most. After all they were the only 15th region team to beat the Lady Hornets this year. Good Luck Lady Hornets!

Coach Baldwin did take the "high road" and call to congratulate his friend for a milestone professional accomplishment. He felt that was not the time to be overly reactionary about the incident. But, rest assured that he intends to address the incident with him in a very matter of fact, albeit level-headed, fashion, sometime in the near future. Count on it. Coach Miller doesn't get the "big moment" free pass for showing up his colleague in a tournament championship game.

And, before you start that "mind reader" crap, I am not assuming any thing I have stated. It all came directly from the source of its origin.

Also, they didn't even have an escort that night and they didn't come through johnson county. They came the normal way through Floyd County. Get your facts right before you post things that aren't true.

You saw the Johnson Central boys parading through Johnson County. They also just won the regional tournament.
