Bishop Brossart outlasted Dixie 5-4 in eleven innings to win the longest game in Brossart history Wednesday night.
The game was tied 3-3 through nine innings and each team pushed a run across in the tenth to keep the game going. In the eleventh inning, Brossart bunted a runner to third and scored on a throwing error as Dixie tried to get the lead runner out at third. Dixie had a chance to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning, but the tying run was gunned down at the plate on the back-end of a double play to end it.
Pitcher Karlie Shackelford tossed all eleven innings, striking out three, to move to 15-6 on the year. Junior Erica Riedeman went 2 for 4, and senior Molly Williams went 2 for 4 with a double, as Bishop Brossart moves to 20-7 on the season.
