At least 14 people were killed and 50 wounded when a gunman opened fire during an early Friday morning screening of the new Batman movie at an Aurora, Colorado, theater, Police Chief Dan Oates told reporters.
The heavily armed suspect, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was apprehended by police in a rear parking lot of the theater, Frank Fania, a police spokesman, told CNN. The suspect was not immediately identified, though Fania said he was believed to be in his early 20s.
"He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said. Police seized a rifle and a handgun from the suspect, and another gun was found in the theater, he said.

I don't even know how to reply to this story. I saw some video taken by cell phone and it was so horiffic! Kids, dressed up like Bat Man, were running out of the theatre and the police were escorting injured victims outside, too.

This was just madness.

Travesty...

This is why we must bring torture into law for special cases like these.
This dude was obviously a nut job. Okay, so if he gets off pleading insanity then its bull shit.
A nut or not, either way this guy should go.

Terrible.

I still say just release him. Dont worry about putting him in prison, or putting him through all of those tests, or finding all those doctors and all those people to get behind a stand and tell how "disturbed" he is. Just give everybody in America a 24 hour heads up, let us know what time and where he would be released, drop him off and get the f--- out of the way. Game over.

I dont want them to even try him..just turn him loose, but give everybody in America a heads up, and do not allow him to be protected and lie about his whereabouts like they done with that Casey Anthony whore..he will get out of the car, and he'll be a dead man.

This may be in bad taste...

but release him and tell the nation that if he isn't dead in 24 hours you will blow up a hospital.

I can already tell you what is going to happen with this idiot......

His defense lawyers will take a plea deal with the District Atty.'s office. The deal will avoid the death penality, proably life without parole; The judge will agree. Then his lawyers will request him to be housed in a mental health facility for his sentence so he can recieve "proper treatment". And of course, the judge will agree.

Folks, I was a correctional officer in 2007 for around a year at the Kentucky State Reformatory in LaGrange. There, they have the the state's only Correctional Pysch. Treatment Unit (CPTU).

These inmates who plead "insanity" to avoid the death penailty or a harsher sentence laugh at the justice system. I know cause I've heard them do it. I'm not gonna start saying names of inmates on the board. But I know some of you remember their names and their crimes. And of course, their lawyers said they were 'insane' so now they're doing their time easier cause they "require special attention"

We live in an age where NO ONE takes responsibility for their actions and it's a shame.
I think he was appointed a Public Defender...
if the PD was remotely interested in making sure that justice was served he/she would throw him to the wolves.

The plea deal should include that he should not be granted an insanity plea. Spend the rest of his life in with the general population

Pulp Fiction is exactly right..I spent over seven years (working, lol) in a Supermaximum security institution myself. This is what burns me. Guys like this, Jerry Sandusky, and other high profile inmates, are immediately moved to segregation/protective custody and no one will ever lay a pinky on them. Ever. They will get their three meals a day, free medical, and their recreation, and sit back and laugh. Granted, no its not the freedom they themselves gave up on the outside, but they dont have to worry about the death penalty, or anyone killing them. Thats why I say just release the son of a bitch without so much as trying him. It will be fun to watch him try to survive people trying to kill him, but not as much fun as when someone actually does Big Grin

I can agree with this. Just make sure the inmates in that unit know that some of those victims were children, lol..the rest will take care of itself.
