Boyd County is building momentum for the postseason.
The Lady Lions finished the weekend undefeated at the Battle at the Creek Round Robin in Lexington, winning one game on Friday and two on Saturday.
On Friday, Boyd County defeated Highlands 9-1 led behind Emily Stewart’s 3-for-3 day and a Taylor Wheeler home run. Hunter Reeves went 3-for-4 in the game and scored twice.
Boyd County started off Saturday by defeating tournament host Tates Creek 12-2. Wheeler went 2-for-4 with another home run and three RBIs. Bri Crooks and Cameron Mullins both went 2-for-4 for the Lady Lions.
In the final game of the round robin, Boyd defeated Garrard County 10-1, behind Mullins’ who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and hit her first career home run.
Destiny Goins went 2-for-3 with two runs, Crooks went 2-for-3 and Stewart went 2-for-4.
It was also a strong pitching weekend for Boyd County (19-9). Lora Thompson, Alex Meade and Hannah Irvine all threw complete games and combined to give up just six hits all weekend.

Raceland takes two against Morgan Co.
RACELAND In the first game of a doubleheader, Raceland pitcher Kelsey Diller led the Lady Rams by striking out 15 Morgan County batters on her way to a win.
Seventh-grader Madison Johnson led the Lady Rams by going 2-for-4 and picking up three RBIs. Eighth-grader Leigh Grubb also added three RBIs, all coming off a triple.
Taylor Podunavac, Chloe Adkins and Morgan Curley all went 2-for-3 for Raceland.
In the day’s second game, Raceland’s bats stole the show as they exploded for 13 runs off 11 hits.
Chloe Adkins paved the way going 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs, while Alexis Smith finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Bre Grubb and Savannah Mackie each went 2-for-3 for Raceland (16-10).

ASHLAND The Tomcats needed extra innings, but found a way past defending Ohio state champion Wheelersburg.
Evan Cox played the hero, hitting a single up the middle to score Jake Hall in the tenth inning. Cox finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
Cade O’Bryan and Cameron Fritz both finished the game 2-for-4 for Ashland (17-8). Fritz also earned the win on the mound.
