VANCEBURG — Greenup County scored two early runs and added a late home run in a 3-0 win over Lewis County on Thursday night in a high school fastpitch softball game.
Brooke Johnson tossed a complete game shutout from the circle, giving up just four hits and striking out five.
Jorden Moore led off the game with a double off Lewis County pitcher Kelsey Rizzo. Abby Sanders followed by reaching base on a hit-by-pitch. They stole second and third before Paige Howard executed with a sacrifice fly and an ensuing wild pitch plated Sanders.
Madi Greene added a big blast in the seventh inning. The junior sent a line drive over the fence in left-center-field.
Greenup County improved to 3-1. Lewis County fell to 1-1.
