Ring Psychology and Storytelling
#1
There were two absolutely fantastic matches on the card last night: The Shield Triple-Threat and Zayn vs Owens.

The Shield match had a moment where Rollins and Ambrose powerbombed Roman (throwing it back to their days as a team) that was immediately followed by Rollins attacking the other two with a chair (throwing it back to the night they split up). That is good storytelling and it ended with the Dean going over clean. No 50-50 booking, no dumb finish, just one guy hitting his finisher on another guy to retain the belt.

Zayn vs Owens, although we've seen it before, was as good a match they've ever had. They had matches when they were younger and some big ladder matches, but these guys have evolved into technicians of the highest caliber. To see Sami obviously botch a flip off the ropes and to see them spotlight it by KO working the shoulder and Zayn selling it was something that less-experienced guys or guys accustomed to choreographing a match from start-to-finish wouldn't have thought to pull off. Then when you see Owens tell Sami to "Stay down! Don't make me do this!" and see Sami hold up KO before putting him back into the corner for the second finisher was just a great moment.

These matches, especially Zayn vs Owens, are matches that are worth a second viewing.
