The typical state record bull elk mount is right here in eastern Kentucky, and now anyone can see it.
Franklin Scott of Floyd county killed the elk during last year's hunt in Knott county.
He didn't know it set the state record at the time, but he knew it wouldn't fit into his house!
Scott donated the bull elk mount to the lodge at Jenny Wiley State Park.
"Even as a boy, I've always camped, fished, and I just thought there couldn't be a better place, a more proper place than right here," says Scott.
"I've been in this lodge many times and i've always felt there was something missing. When I walked in today and saw that elk head hanging there, I thought, that's it," says Jerry Miller State Parks Commissioner.
A plaque honoring scott is below the elk mount.
