Following the abrupt resignation last week of Jordan Compton, Valley has named Jake Hamilton as its new head coach.
Jake was a former standout pitcher for Pikeville High in the early 2010's, then went on to the University of Kentucky before coming back to UPike.
He steps into the shoes of Jordan Compton, who turned Shelby Valley around in his 4 years at the school, culminating with the 59th district championship in 2019. His teams went to the regional all 4 years, winning a game there in both 2016 and 2017.
Always tough to have a coaching change this close to the beginning of the season. Valley lost some talented players from last year's team, but still return several starters. Hopefully they continue on the upward track from the last few years.
