Sexism in the U.S. Congress (and in government in general)
#1
The Liz Cheney demotion got me to thinking about how men in Congress think of women. I do not think for a second that they consider their female colleagues as equals.  There's no way a Romney or a Kinsinger would have received the same disrespect shown Liz.   Let's face it, sexism is still prevalent  throughout every fiber of American society today and Congress is certainly no exception.  I mean, seriously, what did Liz do besides denounce Trump and refuse to lie about the Big Lie? She is a genuine conservative who stood up for democratic principles. One too many X chromosomes will get you replaced in the Grab Our Puntang.  Liz was a victim of toxic masculinity syndrome in today's Great White Grope party of Trump and Gaetz.  Same for Hillary; same for Elizabeth Warren( remember Trump's sexist  Pocahantus  reference and McConnell's "nevertheless, she persisted" comment?) .   There's no doubt sexism played a role in Liz' treatment by House Trumplicans.

What do you think?   I'm sure we'll see at least three conservatives disagree with me.

Note: Nationwide, women still make only 82 cents for every dollar a man makes.  The thirteen states with the biggest gender wage gaps are red states. Also, the top six states as far as smallest gender wage gaps are blue states. Interestingly,  Liz' state of Wyoming has the largest gender pay gap of any state in the country, with Wyoming women making only 65 cents for every dollar their male counterpart makes.  It shouldn't come as a surprise that men in Congress, particularly those  representing these red states, probably don't view Liz Cheney as being on the same level of leadership worthiness as someone having a  XY   pair.

Yet another Republican/Trump bashing thread. I think I will sit this one out. The socialists in this forum have an obsession with Trump that is not healthy, IMO.

This thread reads like it was written by someone who was let out of a rubber room and let out of their straightjacket just long enough to write it and then immediately was put back in their straightjacket and put back in their rubber room. Then some liar made up a fake thread title that has nothing to do with what the crazy person wrote. Somebody tell the deranged author and the fake thread title writer that another woman (E. Stefanik) is a huge favorite to replace Liz Cheney.

She is just going to be a pawn.  She has already shown that she will kiss the ring and do as she is told.  We need more strong leaders, such as Cheney and Romney, who are not afraid to go against the grain to try and do what's right.  It's obvious that does not work in Washington at this time, and it may never again.

Nixon would have never been brought to justice in today's world and Howard Baker and others would have been shamed from the Party for doing the right thing.

So name the Democrats who are strong leaders who are not afraid to go against the grain and do what's right. None, thanks for playing.
Your idiotic sexism lie gets blown out of the water and you come back with an even more idiotic pawn lie. Due to extreme brainwashing, you guys have literally zero critical thinking skills.

Claire McCaskill, Chrissy Houlahan, Donnelly, Manchin.

Most politicians are more concerned with the needs of the Party as opposed to the needs of the people.  Although I will have to admit that the needs of the Party run a distant second to getting themselves reelected.

I can’t come up with any Democrats that voted against someone in their party that fomented an insurrection.

Disagreeing with one's party position does not make a politician a strong leader. John McCain was and Lindsey Graham is a great example of this fact. Strong leaders persuade others to support their principled positions. Neither Cheney, Romney, nor any of the Democrats that you listed are what I would consider strong leaders.

Why are they replacing her with Stefanik? Less conservative and her only claim to fame is she wasn’t a bumbling idiot while defending Trump in one of his impeachment trials.

Of course they are going to replace Liz with a female. Putting a male in her place would be terrible optics.  Optics, not principles, is what matters to the Trumplicans.  The replacement will be a guaranteed Trump loyalist, just a pawn in the hands of a  bunch of fearful , bigoted white men.  I have no problem with principled Republicans and/or conservatives such as Liz, Mittons, Kinsinger, Will,  Kristol, Sykes, etc... I disagree with them on most all  issues but I respect their principled stances.  If there were principled Republicans/conservatives on this board, I would feel the same.  Principled stances don't include propagating the Big Lie(when you KNOW it's a lie),  making excuses for the inciter of the Capitol insurrection and denying that the inciter's followers didn't harm anyone,  getting defensive about teen twat-loving Trump sycophant , MattGaetz , and even bragging that he's your favorite topic, etc, etc, etc ...

Liz will be remembered for her courage, her honesty, and for her defense of American democracy. Maybe if the Republican Party ever recovers from its anti-democracy cult phase, Cheney will emerge as one of its top leaders. It may never recover, though. There probably won't be another Republican president in any of our lifetimes. At least the Democrats can thank Trump and his loyalists for that.

It’ll never recover to be the party it was.
GOP is the party that can’t do math.

A President that never made to 50% approval; lost the House, Senate , and Presidency; never won the popular vote; shrunk the party registration to smaller than Dems and Is; and is lopping off their own.

Whatever...I’m cheerleading them.

Kick her a$$ out.  Get Mitt and anybody else that may have morals and is pissed Trump tried to have them killed by the mindless MAGA horde.
