David Miller 1972 Carroll County, Menifee County 1971, Bath vs. Harrison 75-77 region

David Miller was a great player for his small school between Louisville and Cincinnati along the Ohio River. In the 1972 region final he scored 38 & 25 rebounds and led his team to state. In the 1971 Henry County Invitational  his team lost to McDowell from the 15th region. Steve Smith scored 28 points and Glen Tuner scored 22 points. On January 8, 1972 he scored 44 points in the Henry County Invitational. Dennis Clifton scored 28 points in the first round of the region and 25 points in the district final. Junior guard Greg Schepman scored 15 & 16 points in the 72 region. Also a player for Carroll County was Carroll Meadows and Greg Schepman who in the 73 district scored 24 and 16 points. The famous gym at Henry County always host the 8th region but the games played as invitationals through the years always had great players and teams. Larry Trimble from Menifee County on 1-12-1971 scored 46 points and three days later scored 31 points for his team out of Frenchburg. In the 1968 region Danny Clark scored scored 22 and Dexter Spalding had 18. In the 1969 region Menifee County advanced to the finals and Danny Clark scored 24 and he had 19 points in a semifinal win. Larry Trimble as a 10th grader scored 10 points in the 69 region. The All Regional Tournament team for Menifee County was Mike Brown, Danny Clark and Willie Wilson in 1969. The 10 region in 1975 through 1977 was run by Bath County and Harrison County. The 1977 region semifinal was Bath County 74 Harrison County 66 and Tony Talbott scored 19 points for Harrison County and Todd Vanderplatts scored 28 points for Bath County. History reads that Randy Stull 17 points and tip in at the buzzer along with Bruce Jones 37 points led Bath County to one point region win. In the 1975 10th region Bath County 66 Harrison County 49 was the finals score but the semifinal game they played against Clark County shows Eugene McCaffery scored 32 points and 16 rebounds for the Winchester school. Sam Haliburton scored 16 and Dennis Custard scored 14 points and had 16 rebounds for Harrison County. Bath County was led in the finals with Jeff Wilson 18, Bruce Jones 18 and Gerald Razor 14. Billy Custard in 1976 was third team all state and moved to second team all state in the 1977 season for the Cynthiana school. Lee Kendall scored 20 points for Harrison County in the semi finals win in 1976. Billy and Dennis Custard were tough talented players that led Harrison County for 4 seasons. In 1982 John Worth was first team all state for Daviess County and in the district his school beat Apollo 8-6. Daviess County is 14 miles south of Owensboro.
