U.S. Tied For Highest Inflation Of All The World’s Developed Nations: IMF
#1
I did not think that Joe Biden could lead an army of ants to a sandwich, but thanks to Biden, the U.S. now leads the world's developed country in our inflation rate. However, we still trail the world's leader in inflation, Venezuela, but Biden earns an "A" for effort. Nobody has ever worked harder to sink this nation's economy.
Quote:U.S. Tied For Highest Inflation Of All The World’s Developed Nations: IMF

In 2021, the United States is tied for the highest level of inflation suffered by any of the world’s 35 developed economies, according to statistics released from the International Monetary Fund.

The U.S. and Iceland are for the fastest rate of rising prices among 35 advanced economies. The IMF’s “Inflation rate, average consumer prices” rated both nations’ inflation at 4.3%.

The world’s worst inflation rate belonged to socialist Venezuela, which experienced a whopping 2,700%.

The IMF figure is significantly lower than the 6.8% year-on-year increase in the Consumer Price Index that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last Friday. The BLS noted the soaring inflation rate through October marks “the largest 12-month increase since the period ending June 1982.”

The largest increases came from the cost of vehicles, gasoline, shelter, and food, the BLS noted.

The report stands as a further rebuke to the Biden administration, which spent months downplayed the impact higher prices have on average American citizens. The administration insisted the sticker shock consumers experienced in grocery stores and at gas pumps is “transitory.”

Well at least it's nothing important.

As most regular readers of this website know, the author of this and many other Joe Biden hate threads is a dishonest political hack for far right ideas and insane conspiracy theories.  I say dishonest because he knows better.  If Trump was in office now and Biden or Hillary or Barack or any other Democrat was his immediate predecessor, he would be blaming the predecessor for the inflation.

Rick Scott made some of the same claims back in July of this year:

“Thanks to the insane tax-and-spending spree of President Joe Biden and Democrats in Washington, we are seeing six straight months of raging inflation.”

Sounds familiar , doesn't it?   Again, if Trump were president and the previous president was Biden,  Biden would still get the blame from these people.

Politifact  rated the above claim by Rick Scott   MOSTLY FALSE.   Here was their summary:

Our ruling
Scott said, "Thanks to the insane tax-and-spending spree of President Joe Biden and Democrats in Washington, we are seeing six straight months of raging inflation."

Inflation is up, and there’s broad agreement that government spending has been a factor.

However, most of the big spending coursing through the economy took place before Biden and the Democrats were in charge in Washington. In the past, there’s been a lag of one to two years between higher government spending and higher inflation. The massive relief package in March has had little time to spur inflation.

As for taxes, they haven’t gone up. And if they had, that would tend to put the brakes on inflation.
We rate this claim Mostly False.

Again, the author of these "hate" threads for the current U.S. president is not a dumb man, just a very dishonest man. He knows full well, as most of you do, that there has always been a lag of a year or two between an increase in government spending and higher inflation. Does anyone really think he would be bashing Trump with rising inflation numbers?

Politifact is a left-wing hack site, so it is not surprising that you are citing it again as if their opinions are fact. Your pattern is consistent. The inflation rate and declining state of the economy speak for themselves. So, instead of arguing the facts and accepting the statistics of Biden's own agencies, you insult the messenger. Very intellectually lazy and dishonest of you. Par for the course. No intellectually honest person tries to pass off Politifact's "fact-checking" as anything but socialist propaganda.

^^   "When the people find they can vote themself money, that will herald the end of the republic." --- Benjamin Franklin

Some realities just cannot be sidestepped without suffering the consequences. Like in the case of 2 + 2 = 4 for example. Every last Democrat is solidly on board with selling their office (and their soul) for the votes they need to stay in office. The price? The people want money, lots of it.

Milton Friedman did not have it wrong, there is no free lunch and math is an exact science. 2 + 2 always equals 4 in other words. That is until one listens to the fiscal psycho-babble being spewed by Janet Yellen and the legion of rabid libs that comprise their conference. Of course there are Republicans on board with the madness as well. But by the time the capital smoke being blown clears, it will be too late for this nation. At that point all the I-told-you-so's in the world will be of no consequence. But this is what happens when the inmates take over the asylum and the hearts of the people have lapsed into an apathy dimmed conscience dulled by stimulus checks.

The past couple of years have been an anomaly as far as this or any other countries economies are concerned. It will take some time before we can judge Biden on the economy, although I'm not sure if they have a viable plan or not at this time. Any unbiased, informed person should realize this, but politics clouds people's judgement.

It's good to know there are still good, unbiased Republicans out there. I appreciate your objectivity, Outsider. A lot of good Republicans put country over party .  Mitt, Adam, Liz and many non-Congressmen have done so.  Like you said, anyone with even a hint of an unbiased mindset knows you can't really judge any president a year into his term.  Politifact had it right; the hopelessly biased author of this thread has it wrong.

Any unbiased, informed person should be able to look at the statistics and surveys. The Fed, under Biden has been pumping huge volumes of currency into the economy and liberal policies have not provided adequate incentives to people who should have returned to the workforce. The Biden administration lied about the high inflation rate being transitory, so Americans now expect inflation to persist longer than whatever the administration's latest forecast may be.

You are right about politics clouding people's judgment. It has clouded yours. Inflation is actually a much more serious issue than the Biden administration will ever admit. The inflation rate has been kept low over the years by redefining the inflation rate and excluding important items from its calculation. If Biden gets his way, American taxpayers will be paying higher tax rates and suffering from even higher inflation rates. Liberals know that Biden is a one-term president and are working hard to implement their agenda, regardless of the exorbitant cost of doing so.

Big Grin ^^  Inflation is at a 40 year high. When Biden 'took over' (read that anyway you want) gasoline was 1.86 a gallon and America was energy independent. As energy goes, so goes America. I'll stop drawing comparisons there but any truly objective person could fill a book with the things that cost more money under Biden. Wait you say? Endure would be far a more accurate depiction of what lays ahead.

AFTR, anyone that would like to compare the predictions I have warned about since the days immediately following the first Obama term until today against what any lib on this board has predicted, and publish the results here; certainly has my backing. I could use the entertainment.

Even former members of the Obama administration have been vocal in criticizing the Biden administration's policies. It is amazing how many liberals cannot fathom why a president implementing policies reminiscent of the Carter presidency is getting Carteresque results. Republicans need to begin resurrecting the misery index as a measure of the damage that Biden and his supporters are doing to this nation. The inflation rate is almost there. Interest rates will follow and the unemployment rate will increase as a response. Democrats have been there and done that before.

Points to Ponder:

Why did Biden's pandemic relief stimulus contribute to inflation but Trump's stimulus packages passed in Dec and March 2020 didn't? Wink

Why didn't the trillions of dollars in spending signed by Trump last year contribute to inflation? Rolleyes

I never said that they did not contribute to inflation. I think Trump caved to political pressure when he signed off on those packages. The question for you is that considering that the inflation rate is the highest that it has been in 39 years, why are liberals pushing for trillions of dollars in additional deficit spending?

Here is another question for you. More Americans have died from COVID-19 on Joe Biden's watch than died during Trump's term of office. Why did those COVID-19 counters in the media suddenly disappear when Biden was sworn into office? I never accepted the bogus allegation that COVID deaths were Trump's fault and I am not assigning that responsibility to Biden either - but the way that liberals such as yourself blamed Trump for political gain was despicable.

Trump does deserve some blame for inflation but the lion's share of the blame belongs to Biden. He has continued to push inflationary government policies and ignored all of the warnings, including those from prominent Democrats. Worse yet, he has the majority of Americans believing that inflation is here to stay because they see a president who does not seem to care about doing anything to get inflation under control.

History contains the instructions for getting inflation under control and those instructions were written during the Reagan presidency. The consequences will likely include a serious recession and a higher unemployment rate but somebody has to begin making the tough but necessary decisions. That person is not going to be Joe Biden or his puppet masters

Liberal love to deny reality and delude themselves into believing that those who criticize the senile puppet in the White House are far right wingers. Actually, the majority of Americans agree that Biden is part of the problem and a part that offers no solutions. When a CNN-commissioned poll shows that a majority of Americans have reached the same conclusions about Joe Biden as I did many years ago, then it is time for liberals to face the truth.  Big Grin

Quote:Nearly two-thirds of Americans doubt they can trust Biden, poll shows

As President Biden’s first year in office comes to an end, nearly two out of every three Americans has doubts and reservations about him — with 70 percent saying his policies have worsened the economy or had no effect, according to a new poll.

According to the CNN poll conducted by SSRS, 66 percent of Americans said they doubted whether Biden was “a leader you can trust,” a number that included 92 percent of Republicans, 75 percent of independents and 36 percent of Democrats.

The poll also found that 45 percent of adults believe the president’s policies have worsened the economy while only 30 percent say they have had a positive impact and 25 percent said they had no impact at all.

When asked how they thought the president had handled the economy overall, 54 percent expressed disapproval – an increase of five percentage points from late summer and 12 percentage points from late April.

In its first year, the Biden administration has been slammed with a number of economic crises including supply chain backlogs, rising gas prices, increased housing costs and inflation. The survey found that 80 percent of Americans considered inflation to be “a major problem” for the economy, 79 percent thought the same of supply chain disruptions, 77 percent thought the same of rising home prices and 70 percent considered increased gas prices to be a major economic problem.

No, inflation will not be on Biden because he is the one in charge. It will be on Biden because he continues to pursue inflationary policies. This is not a case of a president just being in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting unfairly blamed because he happens to be in the White House when lightning strikes. Biden and Biden alone is signing bills into law and executive orders that have accelerated increases in the inflation rate.

Gasoline prices have soared because Biden, as Obama did before him, has gone to war against companies that produce fossil fuels. Countries having economies based on affordable energy sources have always thrived and those who are at the mercy of others have struggled. Biden has resorted to begging other countries to increase their production of crude oil, when the U.S. was a net exporter of oil when he entered office. Increases in energy costs ripple through the economy and are one of the primary drivers of the inflation rate. Liberals apparently believe that getting other countries to produce oil instead of our own companies is helping fight "climate change." It is, in fact, a Shell game that has no impact on carbon dioxide production.

^^ Exactly right this is Obama 2.0 without prejudice and by all indications, the ones responsible are not about to let their foot off the accelerator this time around. I believe their intention is to push things as far as they can and those still standing can sort through the chaos to figure out where we stand after it's all over.

What I meant about Biden being in charge is that he's the one in position to fix it.  It's to or past the point where you can point fingers at the previous administration.  It's time for talking to end, if you have a plan, implement it and let's see what happens
#21
^^ You meant what you said, and this last post did not help your position any. When Biden took over things were peach; ie gas $1.86 a gallon and overall,  the consumer price index for the first year of 'all things Biden,' fared as follows--- "The all items index rose 6.8 percent for the 12 months ending November, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending
June 1982.”    https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm
^^ This is Biden's own US BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS btw. And by the way, the US "is back" alright. Back to Jimmy Carter era inflation. But Biden inherited a very healthy economy which he promptly set out to step on.

Now, I will stipulate that said peachy things were mischaracterized by Dems and the leftist media as being "out of control," to include US efforts to curb COVID 19. We did however have the fastest growing economy since the days of Reagan. And we did get the vaccine in record time as promised. But the economic sector was very good, albeit under siege by governors of blue states. The shut downs by Dem governors from California to Michigan to New York did hurt, and continue to do so. Trump called them out for it but because they were committed to wage the resistance or die on the hill, those governors merely ignored him.

Past that, how in your wildest imagination or why; would he try to fix something he has worked so hard to foist upon the people? You're either drunk on the koolaid or delusional or both. In any case reality is not visited upon your state of mind with any degree of frequency whatever.

And finally, talking is all there is with this group of self deluded liberals. To whit I am particularly incredulous with the threats of getting tough on Putin by dropping the sanction hammer on him instead of any kind of military threat or aid. Prefaced of course by the closing down the Keystone Pipeline, and otherwise overshadowing the entire US energy sector with their resurgent war on coal, ending fracking and the moratorium on oil drilling. All of which happening at the same time that Biden okey-doked Putin's Nord Stream Pipe Line. I mean are you really that detached or do you think the conservatives on here are? Either way you're continually talking out of school.
