Open Job: Estill County
#1
Wonder who gets this job?
#2
I mean…. Anyone who does has a tough job ahead of them. If what Coach Marcum did wasn’t enough… geez. No thanks.
#3
Had a parent over thanksgiving tell me this was gonna happen and I didn't believe them, Some programs get in their own way.

Which of those teams pose a huge threat besides Belfry really?

LC is much better than Estill historically and this season. they also have some extremely talented, young players working their way up.

That district is a two team race for as long as they’re all together.

KHSAA is redistricting everyone after 2024 season so 2025 and ever how long after will be different.

Why was a change needed?

Brandon Brewer makes for an interesting candidate for Estill County.

Successful at Powell, from the area, won’t have to deal with near the expectations he had at Prestonsburg.

I thought of this earlier. Probably a solid landing spot for him. They have some decent talent

I have to agree with the Blackcats, Brewer coming back to this area is certainly possible he’s from up the road and knows this team as well as anybody.
#21
First thing I thought too black cat was Brandon Brewer.

It's not a behind the scenes thing. If you have been close to the program over the last several seasons, things just weren't well between the head coach and the admin at the school. The coach already had 1 foot out the door and would have jumped at the first opportunity to leave. That isn't something you can have as the leader of your football program. Everyone has to be committed 100% and that wasn't the case here. Therefore, a change needed to be made.

if that’s the case then that makes sense. I just found it odd that they would get rid of someone who had winning seasons in his tenure plus had a win over The Rock.

Rockcastle was 4-7 the year the Engineers beat them.

Simply not true! He was asked to apply for several jobs including the Madison Southern job and not only did he not, he told everyone he was happy there. Kstate doesn’t make you a football guru, shooter.

This was simply a family who got into someone’s ear, using small town politics and ran a good coach and man out, but good luck to them. After this SR class this program takes a major step down, and when Mr MT isn’t winning they will reap what they’ve sowed.

Estill County admin would be wise to hire Brandon Brewer if he applies.

Great family, his wife is a wonderful teacher, and they live and breathe football.

Would be surprised if they go the Brewer route. The county hated the double wing before Marcum arrived.  Brewer is a wing T guy, so wouldn’t settle well either.  People in Irvine want the spread. Whether they get it or not will be the question.
#28
So has anyone heard of anyone that’s applied yet?

Rumor: but I am 99% sure Brewer has applied and is scheduled for an interview

This is true, but hilarious!  They had their best teams in school history running it(DW). And it actually fits the kinda of kids they have.  People are so dumb when they think what you see on Saturday and Sunday is automatically what a rural HS should be doing!!!
