Former Lawrence Co standout and Herd starter Steve Blevins (7-2) had a strong six-inning performance on the hill. He allowed just four runs (one earned) and scattered seven hits, and fanned one batter in the win.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Marshall University's Tommy Johnson launched a three-run homer (his eighth) and Ben Jurevicius added his first long ball of the season to power the Thundering Herd to a 16-10 victory over No. 28 Southern Miss in Friday night's Conference USA baseball game at Appalachian Power Park.
With the win, Marshall is 24-22-1 overall and 10-8-1 in C-USA action, while Southern Miss slips to 32-15 on the season and 9-7 in league action.
