Cop who stopped NFL player in hospital lot resigns
#1
DALLAS (AP)—The police officer who pulled out his gun and threatened an NFL player with jail instead of allowing him inside a hospital where his mother-in-law was dying resigned Wednesday.
Officer Robert Powell had been placed on paid leave pending an investigation of the March 18 incident.
“I made this decision in the hope that my resignation will allow the Dallas Police Department, my fellow officers and the citizens of Dallas to better reflect on this experience, learn from the mistakes made, and move forward,” Powell said in a statement issued through his attorneys.

Most Cops are good but there a some that think that metal badge makes them GOD almighty. This guy falls into the latter catergory.

It's not over. Internal affairs is investigating the event. If inappropriate actions were found due to the verbal comments made, the Dallas Police will be taking action against the former officer.

I wish that the family would have steped up and said something instead of forgiving this guy. Its discusting what he did to them.

Have to agree. That was awful.

I am a supporter of the law enforcement field but this cop was clearly in the wrong and I though he should have been fired and still think some type of charge will be brought against him. He should have resigned as he has no place in law enforcement with his attitude.
