Very few artists today perform true country music. If you look at the lists half of the songs are from the 80s and 90s. Some country musicians play toward a mixture of country and pop music.

I was going to make a few new CD"s and update my iTunes so I decided to meander over to CMT.com and listen to some of the songs on their "12-Pack" voting page (typically the most brand new songs).

Needless to say, when Jack White of "The White Stripes" fame has the best "new" country song out it is pretty sad. On a side note his song is pretty good.. he teams up with Ricky Scaggs and Ashley Monroe and it is a very bluegrassy song.
