Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger accused of sexual assault

RENO, Nev. â A woman has filed a lawsuit accusing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and Ohio native Ben Roethlisberger of raping her last summer in his penthouse hotel room at a casino in Lake Tahoe during a celebrity golf tournament.

Roethlisberger's lawyer adamantly denied the allegations Tuesday, and was quick to point out that the woman never went to the authorities.

âBen has never sexually assaulted anyone. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct,â David Cornwell said in a statement. âIf an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.â

I can't believe you can have a civil suit against someone without ever having a trial first. She also claims a hotel Mgr. made friends with her parents (while she was in the hospital for depression after the alledged assault) and got a key to her place and erased all her evidence she had on her computer. She claims the Hotel was trying to hide it and their being sued too.
The timing is to perfect, right before training camp, right before they try for another SB. They are hoping he'll settle out of court to save their season.
It's a complete scam and a complete shame.

If criminal charges are confirmed, I guarentee you that Goodell will impose a penatly on him. This guy is making it known that no one is abouve the game. I don't think he cares about the star quality of the player.

Nevada police released a statement that they are not going to pursue this issue. This is a scam but Ben walks a fine line with his partying and women. A smart woman with good scam may very well get him one day.

It's hard to sentence him for a criminal offense when there was no criminal complaint. Or in the case of Commissioner Grouchell, a civil case doesn't mean he did it, just that reasonable doubt is all that you have to prove, which is a lot easier for the victim.

If I was Ben, and I knew the truth and I wasn't guilty, no matter what, I wouldn't pay her a dime. Because every time somebody does, another girl will try to get away with it. Another thing that is fishy to me is that the big cover up, that should not have happened is only costing them 50,000, and Ben 400,000 in medical bills for starters, when her bill not being paid in the hospital was due to the hotel not paying her health insurance. Sounds real fishy to me. Don't give in to this kind of blackmail Ben.
