Fascism and Communism
#1
Often I hear, as we all do, that Republicans are "fascists", and Democrats are "communists". It can be presumed that the fascists they're talking about are from the Nazi mold. And the communists from the Cold War era.

This has been interesting for me for a long time, so I thought I'd give a quick thought on it. What I find most interesting is the misunderstanding that people have of what a Nazi Fascist is. Economically speaking, the Nazi party was liberal, not 'ultra conservative'. They had a heavily regulated and SMALL private sector, with a LARGE government ran but privately owned as its foundation. This is closer to the democratic party of today, than the republican party at anytime in history. I consider myself a radical conservative on economic issues, and identify myself far to the right of the Republican Party on this issue. I can only imagine what liberals would refer to me as. probably some foreign word meaning "of the devil".

And to be sure that everyone is tracking --- One of Hitlers primary concerns was class warfare. He wanted to eventually be able to eliminate it, and the classes themselves. This is a broad economic idea, but closely relates to liberal viewpoints. Further, the Nazi party referred to its own entity as "Socialist".
