At least 12 killed among 31 wounded at Fort Hood, Texas. Pick your favorite national news site for more details.
#2
CNN is awaiting a news conference.

Seen this earlier and also noticed that the gunmen's name was of middle eastern decent. Not trying to sterotype anyone or anything, but it does make you wonder.

My prayers & thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives today at Fort Hood.

I heard that he was born in the country of Georgia, but was a U.S. citizen.

HERO

For those who fought on distant shore,
Who gave without a word,
Defending us with honor,
So gallantly they served.

For every boy who left his home,
Returning there a man,
And every woman who made a choice,
To make serving part of her plan.

For every fallen soldier,
Who gave all they could give,
To guarantee our liberty,
And the freedom that we live.

Each one served with honor,
The brave, the tried, the true,
America gives thanks today,
For we see a hero in you.

Allison Chambers Coxsey

This has been a very sad day.

God Bless America. :USAFlag:

This photo from the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress Web Site shows Nidal Malik Hasan. Military officials say the suspected shooter at Fort Hood, Texas on Thursday Nov. 5, 2009 was Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

This is horrible. My Thoughts And Prayers go out to the families and friends of those lost over something so tragic.

This is a terrible and tragic event. Was just watching Cincinnati news channel about a big group of Ohio National Guard trainees that are at Ft. Hood currently.

It appears that Major Hasan raised some eyebrows with his comments over the past several months, and while working at Walter Reed, he required counseling and extra supervision. So how can a guy like this get so far in our military?

Below is an article by Joe Lieberman.
Homeland Security Chairman Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Sunday that he intends to launch a congressional investigation into the motives behind "the worst terrorist attack since 9/11" -- the slaying of 13 people at Fort Hood by an Army major who, Lieberman said, reportedly showed signs of being a "self-radicalized, homegrown terrorist."

Reports of Major Nidal Malik Hasan have included statements justifying suicide bombings and shouting "Allahu Akbar!" ("God is great!") at the scene as he went on Thursday's shooting spree, Lieberman noted.

"It's premature to reach conclusions about what motivated him," Lieberman said on "Fox News Sunday," but added that indications range from the major being under personal stress over an impending deployment to various reports that "he had turned to Islamist extremism."

"If that is true, then this was a terrorist act," Lieberman said.

Why is this SOB even alive? Did she run out of bullets?

Another case of radical Islamic terrorism but President's Obama's main concern is that we do not "rush to judgement." Our military deserves better - like a commander-in-chief willing to question whether these brave soldiers died in the cause of political correctness. This nutcase (the terrorist, not the Clown-in-Chief) attended the same mosque as three of the 9/11 terrorists and he was recently promoted.

Political correctness is bringing our country to it's knees, maybe this will open some eyes about all of the political correctness issues.

This country is not going to fall from outside forces. It is going to come from the inside, it is the only way it can happen. Now that the socialists have the power they want, they are going to cripple this country, lets hope people wake up soon, it will be too late before we know it.

A Major is not a very high ranking officer. Its pretty much automatic till Major. However i wonder why he was never questioned after some of his comments.

The dirtbag was never questioned because he is an arab and a muslim! Anyone questioning him would have been immediately labelled as "racist" and their career would be over. Beetle is right....wake up America !!

I am still in shock. I can't help but ask how something like this could happen on an army base. My prayers are with the families of the dead and wounded.

Sucks pretty bad...You would think some PFC or Specialist coming home home a little crazy would do something like this, not a Major that is getting ready to go to Iraq and sit on a FOB.
