Would it not be ironic if US whistle blower laws topple Al Gore's Climate Change Alarmist Empire? Up to 30 percent of $50 million in federal grants could make a few of Mann's colleagues pretty wealthy. A few million dollars would buy a lot of caulking and hybrids for the lucky whistle blower. I don't think that this is what Obama had in mind when he proposed the Cash for Caulkers program - but this is one stimulus program that I can support.
Climategate: Michael Mann's very unhappy New Year

Hi,

Greetings and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.

National Search
After the recent whistleblower revelations of emails between climate researchers and data from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, there are on-going investigations into potential fraudulent use of grant funds in Climate Research in the US. I am assisting interested parties who may have details of fraud in climate research to make contact with the proper authorities, and to share in the rewards paid when the funds are recovered.

Whistleblower Rewards Program
The federal government has established vigorous programs to identify and prosecute fraudulent grant applications and administration. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) administers the False Claims Act. It allows rewards for those who come forward with details of grant fraud to share in the recovery of federal funds. This reward can be as much as 30% of the total amount reclaimed. The program is almost completely reliant on insiders to report their knowledge of the fraud in their institutions.
I would have never thought of the whistleblower statute, just think of the information that could come out, even if only one or two come forward.

There are a couple of things wrong with this, first the stimulus is supposed to create jobs, which this does not, then secondly giving tax dollars to a man who uses tricks to manipulate data so he can receive more grant money from the government.

Actually, this particular grant is special, even by the low-bar set by other spending. Most of the Stimulus funds are simply wasted with no real impact on the overall economy. However, Mann’s “research” will presumably be used to further justify cap-and-trade legislation or other draconian regulatory actions. Either of these will have a very negative impact on the economy, retarding growth for years to come.
We may be paying for this $500,000 for a very long time.

Global warming alarmists at the UN have admitted to fabricating more evidence of global warming. Who would have guessed?

Dubai has offered to provide a new home for the UN headquarters. I say that US taxpayers should take them up on their offer but only after withdrawing from the organized criminal organization first.

Quote:World misled over Himalayan glacier meltdown

A WARNING that climate change will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 is likely to be retracted after a series of scientific blunders by the United Nations body that issued it.

Two years ago the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a benchmark report that was claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming. A central claim was the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035.

In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's 2007 report.

It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.

I'm sure many other fabricated reports from the Global warming alarmists that will be revealed in 2010. How many will be picked up by the main stream media is another question? I serioulsy doubt seeing this on the nightly news or on the front page of the papers.

Cavemaster, here's this thing with the lying scientists. How do these guys have jobs? They get millions upon millions of dollars in grants to do their research, now if no one believe global warming/climate change can be altered/affected by humans no one/governments are going to continue funneling millions of dollars to these people.

Now you ask, why do politicians want people believing in what these scientists are saying? It has to do with the liberal political strategy. They want more government control in America. Look what they did to the car industry. They regulated it and allowed foreign competitors to come in and push our companies out. Now the govt basically owns the car industry. They want to do the same with energy. They will regulate it and push these companies to the point that bills are so high and the companies are going bankrupt that the American people will be begging the govt to come in and help out. Then they will control the energy in this country. open your eyes Dems and see what your parties true plans are, look at their action instead of believing the lies they spew from their mouths.

Apparently it's not only the U.K. manipulating data.

Last Thursday, Certified Consulting Meteorologist Joseph D’Aleo and computer expert E. Michael Smith appeared together on KUSI TVto discuss the Climategate -- American Style scandal they had discovered. This time out, the alleged perpetrators are the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS).

NOAA stands accused by the two researchers of strategically deleting cherry-picked, cooler-reporting weather observation stations from the temperature data it provides the world through its National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). D’Aleo explained to show host and Weather Channel founder John Coleman that while the Hadley Center in the U.K. has been the subject of recent scrutiny, “[w]e think NOAA is complicit, if not the real ground zero for the issue.”

These two paragraphs are the most revealing, IMO:

Quote:
Quote:Perhaps the key point discovered by Smith was that by 1990, NOAA had deleted from its datasets all but 1,500 of the 6,000 thermometers in service around the globe.
Quote:For example, Canada’s reporting stations dropped from 496 in 1989 to 44 in 1991, with the percentage of stations at lower elevations tripling while the numbers of those at higher elevations dropped to one. That’s right: As Smith wrote in his blog, they left “one thermometer for everything north of LAT 65.” And that one resides in a place called Eureka, which has been described as “The Garden Spot of the Arctic” due to its unusually moderate summers.

Whichever universities issued phD.'s to the charlatans who have perpetrated this hoax should revoke the degrees immediately and make arrangements to repay taxpayers every cent that our generous federal government forked over to them.

Shame, Al Gore! Shame, George W. Bush! And I hope that Nancy Pelosi's buddy, Newt Gingrich, does run for the Republican nomination so that conservatives can publicly humiliate him for lending his support to this sham. Newt is a smart fellow, smart enough to have known better. Newt was once a great political strategist but it is time for him to sit down and shut up.
I am waiting for Al Gore's admission that global warming is not "settled science" after all. I am also waiting for George W. Bush, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Newt Gingrich, and the other Republican politicians who jumped on the man made global warming bandwagon and proposed spending large sums of hard earned American tax dollars to combat this non-existent problem.

This is just more evidence, in addition to wins by Al Gore, Barack Obama, and Yassir Arafat, of just how meaningless the Nobel Peace Prize has become except for those socialists who actually walk away with the prize money.
Quote:UN climate change expert: there could be more errors in report

The Indian head of the UN climate change panel defended his position yesterday even as further errors were identified in the panel's assessment of Himalayan glaciers.

Dr Rajendra Pachauri dismissed calls for him to resign over the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change’s retraction of a prediction that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035.

But he admitted that there may have been other errors in the same section of the report, and said that he was considering whether to take action against those responsible.

“I know a lot of climate sceptics are after my blood, but I’m in no mood to oblige them,” he told The Times in an interview. “It was a collective failure by a number of people,” he said. “I need to consider what action to take, but that will take several weeks. It’s best to think with a cool head, rather than shoot from the hip.”

The IPCC’s 2007 report, which won it the Nobel Peace Prize, said that the probability of Himalayan glaciers “disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high”.
What happened to all of those assertions that global warming skeptics are simply ignorant of science and the modern day equivalent of Holocaust deniers? Where are all of the defenders of Al Gore, snake oil salesman supreme? Do you still lament the fact that the most successful con artist in the history of the world never became your president? How does it make you feel to know that Rush Limbaugh called this hoax years ago? :lmao:
SHOCKER!! UN Climate Guru Knew Glacier Melt Numbers Were Bogus

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Al Gore's supposed scientific consensus is crumbling before our very eyes. Between Climategate, the phony hockey stick, The NASA climate change guru who refused to fix bogus numbers, and the big Himalayan Glacier Melt are all examples of how the man-made climate change scientists have been scamming us all along.

Here's a new shocker. That Himalayan glacier melt prediction that turned out to be 300 years off...well the man in charge of the project Dr Murari Lal knew all along the prediction did not rest on peer-reviewed scientific research. But the prediction was not fixed because they wanted to be able to put additional pressure on policy makers to take global warming action:
In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Dr Lal, the co-ordinating lead author of the report’s chapter on Asia, said:

‘It related to several countries in this region and their water sources. We thought that if we can highlight it, it will impact policy-makers and politicians and encourage them to take some concrete action.

‘It had importance for the region, so we thought we should put it in.’
Don't you wish that the liberal American media still reported the news instead of campaigning for political causes? It is nice to see that British newspapers still feel an obligation to report major current events.

Quote:Pachauri: the real story behind the Glaciergate scandal

Dr Pachauri has rapidly distanced himself from the IPCC's baseless claim about vanishing glaciers. But the scientist who made the claim now works for Pachauri, writes Christopher Booker

I can report a further dramatic twist to what has inevitably been dubbed "Glaciergate" – the international row surrounding the revelation that the latest report on global warming by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) contained a wildly alarmist, unfounded claim about the melting of Himalayan glaciers. Last week, the IPCC, led by its increasingly controversial chairman, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, was forced to issue an unprecedented admission: the statement in its 2007 report that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035 had no scientific basis, and its inclusion in the report reflected a "poor application" of IPCC procedures.

What has now come to light, however, is that the scientist from whom this claim originated, Dr Syed Hasnain, has for the past two years been working as a senior employee of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the Delhi-based company of which Dr Pachauri is director-general. Furthermore, the claim – now disowned by Dr Pachauri as chairman of the IPCC – has helped TERI to win a substantial share of a $500,000 grant from one of America's leading charities, along with a share in a three million euro research study funded by the EU.

At the same time, Dr Pachauri has personally been drawn into a major row with the Indian government, previously among his leading supporters, after he described as "voodoo science" an official report by the country's leading glaciologist, Dr Vijay Raina, which dismissed Dr Hasnain's claims as baseless. Now that the IPCC has disowned the prediction made by his employee, Dr Pachauri has been castigated by India's environment minister, Jairam Ramesh, and called on by Dr Raina to apologise for his "voodoo science" charge. At a stormy Delhi press conference on Thursday, Dr Pachauri was asked whether he intended to resign as chairman of the IPCC – on whose behalf he collected a Nobel Peace Prize two years ago, alongside Al Gore – but he refused to answer questions on this fast-escalating row.

Is there anything that the global warming hoaxters have not lied about? Apparently all that talk about peer-reviewed scientific studies being the basis of the UN's Nobel Peace Prize winning climate change report was just that - all talk. If it was a movie, it would be a docu-drama at best - a little bit of fact and a whole lot of wishful thinking.

Quote:
After Climategate, Pachaurigate and Glaciergate: Amazongate

AGW theory is toast. So’s Dr Rajendra Pachauri. So’s the Stern Review. So’s the credibility of the IPCC. But if you think I’m cheered by this you’re very much mistaken. I’m trying to write a Climategate book but the way things are going by the time I’m finished there won’t be anything left to say: the battle will already have been won and the only people left who still believe in Man Made Global Warming will be the eco-loon equivalents of those wartime Japanese soldiers left abandoned and forgotten on remote Pacific atolls.

Here’s the latest development, courtesy of Dr Richard North – and it’s a cracker. It seems that, not content with having lied to us about shrinking glaciers, increasing hurricanes, and rising sea levels, the IPCC’s latest assessment report also told us a complete load of porkies about the danger posed by climate change to the Amazon rainforest.
London Times

The university at the center of the climate change scandal over stolen e-mails broke the law by refusing to hand over its raw data for public scrutiny.

The University of East Anglia breached the Freedom of Information Act by refusing to comply with requests for data concerning claims by its scientists that man-made emissions were causing global warming.

The Information Commissioner’s Office decided that UEA failed in its duties under the Act but said that it could not prosecute those involved because the complaint was made too late, The Times has learnt. The ICO is now seeking to change the law to allow prosecutions if a complaint is made more than six months after a breach.

The stolen e-mails , revealed on the eve of the Copenhagen summit, showed how the university’s Climatic Research Unit attempted to thwart requests for scientific data and other information, and suggest that senior figures at the university were involved in decisions to refuse the requests. It is not known who stole the e-mails.

Professor Phil Jones, the unit’s director, stood down while an inquiry took place. The ICO’s decision could make it difficult for him to resume his post.

Details of the breach emerged the day after John Beddington, the Chief Scientific Adviser, warned that there was an urgent need for more honesty about the uncertainty of some predictions. His intervention followed admissions from scientists that the rate of glacial melt in the Himalayas had been grossly exaggerated.
Quote:
Report: Harsh winter a sign of climate change

This winter's extreme weather — with heavy snowfall in some places and unusually low temperatures — is in fact a sign of how climate change disrupts long-standing patterns, according to a new report by the National Wildlife Federation.

It comes at a time when, despite a wealth of scientific evidence, the American public is increasingly skeptical that climate change is happening at all. That disconnect is particularly important this year as the Obama administration and its allies in Congress seek to enact legislation to curb greenhouse gas emissions and revamp the nation's energy supply. National Wildlife Federation® -- Inspiring Americans to protect wildlife for our children's future.

Wildlife's ability to survive the challenges of the 21st century is becoming outpaced by the events that are transforming our world. Global warming, the loss of habitat, and people becoming more disconnected from nature than past generations are converging on a dangerous path for our planet. The work of NWF and our affiliates across the country provides answers to these challenges and will help ensure America's wildlife legacy continues for future generations.
Finding Solutions to the Climate Crisis

Global warming is the single biggest threat to wildlife and wild places. The impacts of global warming, caused by increased carbon pollution, are already being felt: more droughts, food and water shortages, severe weather, and habitat loss. National Wildlife Federation is advancing bold yet practical solutions to global warming. The organization is working to pass comprehensive climate and energy legislation in 2009 with a cap on carbon pollution to improve our economy, our security and the planet's future. In addition to working to change America's energy policy, National Wildlife Federation educates businesses, institutions and individuals on achievable ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader, has condemned the US and other industrial economies, holding them responsible for the phenomenon of climate change.

In an audio tape obtained by Al Jazeera, bin Laden criticised George Bush, the former US president, for rejecting the Kyoto pact and condemned global corporations.

"This is a message to the whole world about those responsible for climate change and its repercussions - whether intentionally or unintentionally - and about the action we must take," bin Laden said.

"Speaking about climate change is not a matter of intellectual luxury - the phenomenon is an actual fact."

According to NASA, a big proponent of AGW, there has been no warming in the USA, so the explanations of how global warming will cause heavier or lighter snowfall events is nonsensical. Our media is totally oblivious to the hoax that has been perpetrated on this country. The UK and Australian media have broken most of the big stories on this subject and the American media mostly ignores it. No wonder the dinosaur media are drowning in red ink.

The academic at the centre of the ‘Climategate’ affair, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, has admitted that he has trouble ‘keeping track’ of the information.

Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.
Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is ‘not as good as it should be’.
The data is crucial to the famous ‘hockey stick graph’ used by climate change advocates to support the theory.

Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.

And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.
