Okay. Check the file size, if it is NOT the right size for an mp3 song, do not download it. Most mp3 songs today are around 3-6 megabytes, depending on length and bitrate.

Limewire is safe and comes with no spyware in the install. As long as you don't do anything stupid, such as downloading a 104 KB song... you're safe.

I don't know about the STD thing but I COULD discuss how that WOULD be possible, surprisingly.

Like Reiz said, don't be stupid. Downloading files that the sizes are crazy is how you get spyware, tracking cookies, etc. etc.

Downloading porn believe it or not will kill your computer, those files have lots of viruses in them and I'm not talking about the herpes kind.

Well, you can pause the download at about 98-99% completion and then rip it from the limewire.exe and onto your harddrive, that way the file download never really finalizes and the virus and other bad things aren't 'really' on your hard drive. However, you can still access your video.

My computer is WELL protected. The normal person can not use it.

I still use Ares
The light version i know of doesn't contain any spyware. but it doesn't work anymore. I still use Ares so if you want to try it. I have never trusted limewire but it has been around for a while.

The thing with the least Spyware would have to be Torrent files. But.... they are not safe either lol Since whenever you download you upload at the same time. And well. If you upload to the wrong person.... You might get fined?? Might just be a rumor i really dont know... but its your choice really.

To me, LimeWire PRO is the best. I can tell you how to obtain it, though I don't know if that is against the board rules or not. So I won't mention. However, LimeWire is not 100% safe. I have downloaded well over 1,000 Songs and quite a bit more things such as programs, movies, games, etc. I have ahd about a total of 5 spyware viruses attached but about 5 viruses out of about 2000 downloads, thats a great rate.

Listen - the best way to do it is as follows... Subscribe to Napster (9.95/mo). You can download almost any song.. The songs you get are WMA files, and they expire. But, you can get either Tunebite or Muvaudio (about $20 for either of those) and then convert the files to mp3's and back them up on CD.

No virus', no spyware, just music.
