(1) Kentucky 85 (23) Vanderbilt 72

Great overall performance by Kentucky against a solid Vanderbilt team who came in with a lot of momentum. Really one of the most complete games they have played so far this season, they didn't get complacement nor came out flat after the loss on tuesday. Congrats

Good Game Cats

Wildcats respond great after their 1st loss of the season! Wildcats outrebound Vandy by 18 rebs 39-21 and Vandy only had 3 offensive rebounds! 5 Wildcats were in double figures(Cousins 21, Dodson 16, Wall 13, Bledsoe 13, Patterson 12)! To top it all off DeMarcus Cousins set the Freshman Record for the most Double-Doubles in a season with 21pts and 10rebs!

Cats seemed to respond well today...played solid....go cats

Cuz needs to get his head on straight. That mouthing off and being a big baby is going to cost us one game.

Nice way for the Cats to respond after the loss on Tuesday. This was a game they absolutely HAD to have, and it showed in their first-half play. The way they looked the first 20 minutes ranks up there with the first half of the Arkansas game as probably the best they have looked all year.

The second half, meh. They had several chances with the lead at 19, where a couple of buckets might have iced the game away for good. But a couple of turnovers, a missed dunk, and before you know, Vandy had pulled back within 12. At least the lead never dropped back to single digits, but I think in the second half UK was just trying to get it over with, and they did that by basically holding serve for the last 20 minutes.

Now, they have to turn around and get ready for Ole Miss on Tuesday. Oh, and hopefully Orton learns how to finish around the basket by then (two UGLY missed dunks has to be a little embarassing).

I think it is easy for a lot of people to forget how young these players are, every player not just "Cuz" need to keep their heads on straight. He has taken just as much than many players I have watched in the past and does anyone think he is the only player that shows emotion or talks on the court. "Big Baby" probably fits a lot of us better than it does him.

Kentucky still needs to work on developing that "killer instinct." Once they have this, I think they will be very hard to beat.

Shew, so many fouls called, and the reason they called the game tight was because of Cousins bow.

Tell me about it, I took my UK shirt off at halftime.....I thought they were gonna call me for a couple.

Good win for UK. Really thought this would've turned out different by the way Vandy has been playing lately. The Cats better watch out when they have to play them at Vandy.

Good to see the Cats come out intense and to see Paterson more invovled. As I have said in many post our 3 spot has to have consistent player whetther it be Miller or Dodson to be a great team. I wish one of the two would come around and be that guy. Had several chances to put this game away but we are still letting teams hang around. If Vandy makes the dunk I think the game would have got very interesting but thankfully it did not. I hated the way this game was called. The officials never let the game get any kind of flow.
#13
congrats to the cats, way to bounce back

Good win in response to the loss. Vandy is not a bad team and we had them down by 19 several times in the second half.

Like posted above the 3 spot has got to be more consistant.

Also Patterson has to get more involved. Yea he mad some threes but other than that he had only 4 rebounds and on basket near the goal. He has got to step up and be the player he has shown he can be.

Much better game from the cats today, Cousins started this game of in a big way today. Dodson looked better today then what he has in the past and i would like to see him become consistent and play that way every game because this kid is a shooter and that's what this team needs. I wish we could get Orton to learn some offense then he would be an absolute monster. 1 thing i have noticed is that Cousins is a ball hog and will not pass the ball at all, like one point in the game he was being doubled teamed and wanted to take the shot before he passed it off. But in all it was a good game today for the cats and it was a much needed win.

When Cousins gets the ball, 1 of three things are going to happen:

1. Score
2. Score and get fouled
3. Miss

He's not looking to pass once he gets the ball, and Calipari doesn't want him to pass it. This is an offensive big man, Orton is the defensive big man(more practical for him to pass). Coach Cal wants Cousins shooting the rock every time he touches it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not picking at it if he is scoring then I'm all for it lol, it just seems like when there's the double team on him and he isn't going anywhere he would kick it out.

He needs to. We have people open when ever there is 2-3 people on Cuz, he needs to get rid of it.

When the double teams come the first place to look is opposite post. Past three games Patterson has been everywhere but the opposite post. Cuz then either has to kick it back out to the perimeter or shoot it. I would rather he shoot it and get fouled.

Cuz is a ballhog? lol. Thats one of the dumbest post I've ever read.

Someone else mentioned it, and I've said it in other threads, but PP needs to be on the block. Yeah, I'm happy he hit a few 3s, but he's a better post up player than anything. Look at him, he needs using that body of his to post up, and be around the goal trying to get offensive boards like Big Cuz is, instead of chllin by the 3 point line. PP used to be more aggressive his first two years. I know he's trying to prove to the NBA scouts that he has a jump shot, but he's not going to be a 3 point specialist in the NBA. He needs to be the horse he used to be.

 That is what I think as well. When he becomes the player he can be and we get consistent play out of the 3 spot, the Cats will be the best team in the land.

IMO, I think this was UK's best win of the season, here's my reasoning..

UK's win over UCONN and UNC are not very good because these teams are not what they usually are. The Arkansas win looks a little better because they beat Mississippi State after we trounced them by 31.
Coming into this game,Vandy was unbeaten in SEC play and riding a 10 game win streak. We took AJ Olgilvy out of the game, he is one of Vandy's best big men. Also, when we got in foul trouble, our reserves stepped in and got good minutes and did not blow the lead.
Overall good performance by Kentucky. We responded very well to the adversity of losing a game. We came out focused and took care of business. The loss to South Carolina may have been what UK needed.

What did big cuz do to get a t? Missed that , had to drop the kids in the pool.

Great game for the cats. I loved the equal scoring from Dodson and Liggins. If they do that then that adds so much deapth to our scoring.

good game cats!
