Anyone else have fish tanks?
#1
Just wondering who else on here had fish? I've currently got 3 tanks that are up and running. A couple more tanks that are empty.

Right now I've got:

-5 gallon planted tank housing a single male betta (wife's fish)

-10 gallon tank housing a crowntail betta, planted with Java Moss, Amazon Sword, and Cryptocoryne Lutea

-10 gallon tank housing a standard issue veil tail betta and 3 peppered cory cats, planted with Java Moss, Amazon Sword, and Lutea

Working on growing some other plants as well, but they're still just bulbs. I'll probably be adding a few more corys in the future as well. I wasn't sure how he'd react, but the betta I have with the corys right now loves them. Rests with them and does his own thing. Just wish I could keep him away from their food. I've still got room for another 2 or 3 corys, so I'd say in a few weeks once the ammonia stabilizes again I'll be adding some more corys. Might go with some albinos the next time.

I've always wanted some of the really large fancytail goldfish, but I don't have a tank big enough to keep them. I've also heard they produce a ton of waste.

Tried keeping a guppy tank once and that failed miserably. I had males and females and the females were having fry like every 2 weeks. Shortly thereafter, the adult guppies started getting fungus and fin rot. I tried treating and the tank appeared clean and my levels were okay, but every time I'd do a water change the fungus would go away, only to come back the next day.

Eventually the guppies started dying off, so I got rid of the few I had left and upon cleaning the tank out, found tons of dead fry down in the gravel that weren't being sucked up by my gravel vac.

If I ever keep guppies again, it will probably only be a tank of males. I'm not mixing the males with females again and dealing with that mess.
