Great job Pikeville

Layne Cecil responded after a first tough 2 innings and threw a phenomenal final 5.

Pikeville may not have scored many, but by god they finally started hitting the baseball. There were some absolute lasers hit tonight.

Good showing and a great atmosphere.

Pikeville expands on its school record in wins, now sitting at 35-3.

Congrats to Prestonsburg on resurrecting their program and a good season.

Prestonsburg hurt themselves in the 2nd inning when they had the bases loaded and no out and failed to score.

Blackcats had a great season that only few expected, and they should hold their heads high as they accomplished a lot this season that they hadn't in years.

They lose 4 starters that I'm aware, so they should be even stonger next season.

As for Pikeville, well they simply played an outstanding game. They hit the ball really hard today and made plays when they had too... Congrats!

Prestonsburg didn't hurt themselves, Pikeville made two big plays with the strikeout and double play. Great pitching and defense by Pikeville, not a mistake by Prestonsburg.

But congrats to Prestonsburg, I have a feeling they will be good from now on...

After the first two innings, I thought this was going to be Prestonsburg's day. The Blackcats had 4 hits through 2, but left entirely too many runners on base. Cecil was sluggish through the first 2, but became nearly unhittable in the final 5 innings. Pikeville's defense was stellar, as always, and they were able to string hits together while the Blackcats could not. Some very uncharacteristic and very untimely errors hurt the Blackcats, but with Cecil effectively shutting down their bats, it was moot.

Pikeville played great both offensively and defensively, and very much deserved this win. Congrats to them. I for one can't wait until Thursday night. That game will be a doozy.

Prestonsburg: Standing ovation on the year! No one expected much this year, especially with all the early season turmoil, but not only did Coach Simpkins mold his available talent into a competitive ball club, this has been the most successful baseball season in a long time for the Blackcats. This team has been a pleasure to watch all year long, and hopefully the successes they have experienced this season will translate to a long, productive run of RELEVANCY in 15th region baseball. Congrats again on a great season.

Pikeville: again congrats. You guys played awesomely today, and deserved the win. Good luck in the finals.
