I believe it was 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. My point is I believe the LC defense is up to the task if they are not on the field for 45 minutes. The LC offense needs a creative game plan to put points on the board and control TOP against a very good Pirate defense. If they can do this they have a shot. If not then I agree it will be a long night.

It was 7-0... but Belfry imposed their will running the ball. LC took the opening kickoff and put together a nice drive that stalled in the Pirate redzone. Belfry promptly marched it down the field with little resistance.

LC fumbled on their next possession. Belfry drove it literally to the one inch line and was about to make it 14-0 when Willis fumbled crossing the goalline. LC recovered and that was the end of the 1st Quarter.

Once again.. we're coming down to Offensive problems with the team. Hope Coach Short shows some more imagination in the next game..would like to see the Dawgs have a run in the playoffs.

In the first matchup it was just a thorough domination from start to finish on both sides of the ball. Varying the offense may have delayed the inevitable, but Belfry was getting anything they wanted on offense.

Belfry led 34-0 at the Half even with the fumble at the goalline. They had at the Half 185 yards rushing on 21 carries (almost 9 ypc), and were 6/6 passing for 109 yards. Lawrence had 90 total yards at the Half and 78 of those came on their opening drive which featured a 50+ yard rush).

The Pirates opened the Second Half with a quick TD pass and held Lawrence to a 3 and Out. After that possession Belfry began to sub heavily.

Take away the first possession of the game and this is how the varsity vs. varsity shook up:
Belfry outscored LC 41-0 scoring on 6 of 7 posessions

12 total yards

Belfry
346 Total Yards

As I said earlier...I expect LC to be much more game for the challenge and I fear Belfry's may be looking forward a little bit,,, but it will take a Herculean effort on both sides of the ball for LC to have a puncher's chance.

IF LC can hold on to the football with some 1st downs.
This means unpredictable on offense keep them guessing!
Then fridays game will be closer than expected.
