KHSAA surveys coaches on quality (Playoff Blowouts)

I like the idea of only the top 2 team making the playoffs with only 4-6 team districts. It makes the regular season mean something and also making the playoffs means something.

My opinion on this is a bit schitzophrenic

On one hand if crowning a champ is the sole goal of this tournament then why
not let only the 1 and 2 seeds from each district play. I would however also like to see the 2 seeds play a district 1 seed on the opposite side of the bracket. this would eliminate the early rematches that often occur in the current pairings. If the 2 best teams are in the same district them maybe they could meet again in the finals. This means the same powerhouse programs will play 14 game seasons year in, year out and the 3-6 seed teams will end after 10 games.

The current 15 game system gives at least the chance for young teams to
improve for next year. First they have to get over the blowout and grow up...not a bad real life lesson. Also a 4 seed young team can get just a little more experience by going after a 1 seed. My observation only but last year Owen County wasn't supposed to have a chance but no one told the players. They came out, played hard and left it all on the field. They gambled a lot and failed a lot in that game BUT they learned from the experience. They lost by 50 points but held their heads high and looked forward to next year. Fast forward 1 year and now they are 11-0 and a #1 seed. This year Gallatin County made the playoffs with an even younger team. They played with a lot of heart and I can almost guarantee they they will improve next year.

But it might still be a blow out if a 1-2 play all depends on how strong your district is take montgomery co 4 seed beats 1 seed now they still have a good chance to beat anderson co and play for a regional tittle. so some times you can have really strong district and top 4 teams have a really good chance to play for that regional champion. So anybody that has played the game would always want that chance to pull the upset one last time before its all over as a senior!!!!:dontthink

Actually 52 were decide by 30+.
35 teams scored 50+
16 teams scored 60+
4 teams scored 70+

St. X which was defeated by Trinity 41-6, beat Nelson Co. 72-0.

What is it going to take to get the KHSAA to come to reality.
The playoffs NEED contraction. Distric winners and runnersup
should be all that make the playoffs in a 6 class system(which also
needs contraction, but that's another issue)

the only thing that means is, that you lucked in to a year when the other district was much weaker than yours. And that happens somewhere every year, sometimes in
more than one region or one class. Doesn't make a good argument for having 4 seeds per district.
